Transition travertine in entry and hall to wood floor in kitchen, great

I want to have travertine in the entry and down the hall and gallery that wind to the great room kitchen area. How do I transition to wood from the stone floor? Or should I just stick with one or the other ? The wood is a dark distressed maple Travertine attached.

It depends on the height difference of stone to wood. If the wood floor is higher than the stone you should use a wood reducer or a marble saddle. If the stone and wood are set at the same height you can use a Schluter strip. They have various designs for all types of transitions.

You can have the wood flooring specialist design and cut a "threshold" to make the transition between the two materials. Is the wood flooring on site wood finished? Or a engineered wood? What is the height difference? Is this new construction? If new, you could adjust the height so both floors match up perfectly. What is your situation, new or backfitting?
