Should I paint these stair risers white?

Hello!! Riser dilemma here! All trim on main level is the natural wood. All trip on second and third level is white.. should I paint risers white to bring the spaces together? The runner in picture is being replaced with a white with gray geometric pattern rug.

I would not paint them. It looks likt the wood is oak which does not paint well. It is very grainey which shows through the paint.

No......... because the stair is very Craftsman in style as I am pretty sure the rest of the house is as well. A less muddy appearing runner would help brighten the stair

I think one you add the gray and white rug is added it will be enough

As others have said there is no need to paint the wood.
