Advice needed Lighting for low ceiling, large living room

I need some advice on what kind of lighting I could have, the living room has a low ceiling, I don't think I can add anything fancy.

Could anyone provide any advice.

Ive been told I should just add 2 hanging lights.

I had a low ceiling in one of my houses. So I used wall lamps and table lamps and it was the cosiest living room ever. I loved it.

I would avoid hanging lights if you have a low ceiling. You can get decorative ceiling lights that are more flush to the ceiling (Google will help there). Or else perhaps you can have down-lights fitted into the ceiling? Either of these would provide good 'general lighting' for when you need to clean etc. However, you'll create a much nicer ambiance if you also add lamps/floor lamps and possibly wall lights too. Good lighting is made up of 'layering'. Try to have any ceiling lights and/or wall lights on dimmers.
