I would suggest giving a true, professional leather furniture company like McKinley Leather a call and ask them if there is a tried and true method of "distressing" your leather prior to taking it on. Once it is distressed, you may want to treat the finish with a product to preserve the look. Testing both the distressing method and the treatment product on a sample would be recommended. Only test half of the product on the distressed sample to see the results before and after the application of the product. Usually a product will also have a drying and then buffing time to show the true results of the new patina. I hope that is helpful. Please get a second opinion from a leather care professional.
