My client had a large collection of seashells, but we also bought quite a few new ones in St. Simons, GA at a great seashell shop. We used the same stucco for the fireplace that was used on the exterior of the house, and while it was wet, we literally pressed each one in place. Some have fallen off but the impression left behind was also very interesting and attractive. We also outlined the opening with starfish which was beautiful and accented it perfectly. To finish it, we used a piece of driftwood for the mantle-- it is truly a beautiful work of art from start to finish!
yes i will look for them.... my site on Houzz has another shot of the driftwood mantle but i will see if i can find the full front of it.. so glad you like it.. it was the most fun project ever in the most beautiful place on earth! i go back often, and love it so very much. Sea Island is truly like paradise! I am hoping to do more interiors there, so I will have even more opportunities to return often.
