Please help: Need advice on granite vanity top install issue!!!

We replaced a pedestal sink in our powder room with a 24" vanity. The contractor decided to put the vanity against the wall since it is fairly small powder room. The contractor created the template for the top himself and not sure where the problem was but the top first came back with a 1 1/2 inch overhang on both sides which put the sink off center from the cabinet and resulted in a 3" inch overhang on the right side. Contractor and I then agreed that we would have the fabricator cut 1 1/2 inch on the left (wall side) and 1 inch on the right so that there would be only a 1/2 " overhang on the right.

End result, fabricator did not cut 1 1/2 inch on the right but contractor installed it anyway. Also installed thick side splash on the wall side, so now the sink looks really asymmetric on the top which my husband absolutely hates. Questions: Can the granite top be cut in place? If not, can it be removed without damaging the cabinet and cut to size? At a minimum, can the side splash at least be removed without damaging the top itself so it looks a little more symmetric?

Appreciate advice from anyone who has had experience with similar issues. TIA

The over hang should be .75" to 1" max from the farther face of the cabinet. You have an overlay door style cabinet that makes front over hang 1.5" from the face frame and .75"on the side of the cabinet. If you like bigger over hangs add .25 inches for front and a side (1.75" and 1" accordingly). hope it helps.

Also don't forget to cut the back splash.

Not sure what is possible to avoid damaging the granite or vanity, but if you don't feel it was done correctly then demand it be fixed to the agreed upon specs.
