Here is another beautiful remodel that we completed in the South Tampa area. The original kitchen consisted of brown cabinets and a layout that did not work for the customer. We rearranged the layout to create a more functional space. The cabinetry that they opted for was Woodland Cabinetry; this style is the Taylor door in Maple wood with a Creme opaque finish. For the backsplash we installed a 3" x 6" tile from Winchester Tiles called Mere. The countertops on the main kitchen is a brushed marble called Champagne, which we purchased from UMI Stone. The customers opted to go with a Walnut wood countertop on their island which was completed by an outside contractor.

Beauty in the Details Project Details Designer: Amy Van Wie Cabinetry: Brookhaven I – Frameless Cabinetry Wood: Maple Finishes: Antique White on Perimeter; Distressed Black Espresso Glaze on Island Door: Perimeter – Edgemont Recessed; Island – Edgemont Raised Countertop: Grey Soapstone Awards 2013 Parade of Homes, Pinnacle Homes-Best Kitchen 2013 NKBA Tri-State Award Columbia Cabinets designed the cabinetry for this stunning home that was featured in the 2013 Parade of Homes and is a multi-award design winner. After the initial meet with the clients and Witt Construction, I began to think about how the space could work. The cabinets were crafted with Edgemont Recessed doors in maple with an antique white finish…a perfect selection for the kitchen’s traditional/coastal design. For countertop, I suggested modern grey soapstone. With a nod to today’s popular trend to mix and match finishes, the island was completed in a black espresso glaze distressed finish with maple Edgemont Raised doors. What really distinguishes this project is the attention to the details. Along the refrigerator wall, the shelf area has lowered seeded mullion glass cabinets and a valance. This created an airy, open look within the space. The bead board accents and corbels throughout the kitchen complete the design.

Crisp white kitchen featuring Custom cabinetry. Door style is a Shaker Lancaster, finish is a baked on White stain on Maple. Costa Esmeralda Granite counters for the perimeter, and Hand finished Mahogany for the island. The dishwasher fits under the sink's drainboard The goal of the project was to create a more functional kitchen, but to remodel with an eco-friendly approach. To minimize the waste going into the landfill, all the old cabinetry and appliances were donated, and the kitchen floor was kept intact because it was in great condition. The challenge was to design the kitchen around the existing floor and the natural soapstone the client fell in love with. The clients continued with the sustainable theme throughout the room with the new materials chosen: The back splash tiles are eco-friendly and hand-made in the USA.. The custom range hood was a beautiful addition to the kitchen. We maximized the counter space around the custom sink by extending the integral drain board above the dishwasher to create more prep space. In the adjacent laundry room, we continued the same color scheme to create a custom wall of cabinets to incorporate a hidden laundry shoot, and dog area. We also added storage around the washer and dryer including two different types of hanging for drying purposes.

An emphasis on natural materials in a historic bungalow situates this kitchen firmly in a Craftsman tradition, while modern details keep it open and functional for an active family. Fully inset Shaker-style cabinetry with hand-carved furniture-style toe kicks gives a sense of serenity and timelessness. White subway tile by Allen + Roth is dressed up by a marble chevron detail by the same designers. What previously had been a small curved pantry with an entry into a hidden office behind the kitchen was transformed into the prep kitchen space, perfect for hosting large parties and keeping the mess elsewhere and unseen by guests. The prep space is directly behind the kitchen, separated by a pocket door for easy access, and has an exit door into the garage, for staging during these parties. Using that space to appeal more to our homeowner, MA Peterson modified the space to meet all the details one might need for entertaining or the homeowners love of baking. Not one inch of space was spared in this prep kitchen, including plenty of storage and organization.
