The client came to us looking for a kitchen remodel for her Redwood City home. She donned a wild, colorful skirt and a charming personality—and she was looking to echo her style in her home. We were smitten with the client who travels the world with her partner collecting odd and wonderful items: goose feet salt-and-pepper stoneware, strange furniture, off-the-wall lamp fixtures, and a cow portrait from Istanbul aptly titled Miss Cow. To match and balance their collection and personalities, we embraced the eclectic in subtle but significant ways. First, we brought the outside in. We removed a few walls to open the kitchen into the dining and living space and to the large, floor-to-ceiling windows that lined the west side of the home. These look over a large acre of land that’s carefully kept and worked to grow an abundance of vegetables, and they introduced a vibrant scene to the kitchen. We chose soft, light colors for the kitchen cabinets and backspace with simple, homey stainless steel and glass wall cabinets. This allowed the clients’ colorful accessories and fresh goods to shine. Then, as a statement piece, we used a faux marble backsplash and countertop—understated to marry well with the vibrant home, but iconic. We contrasted this with a Belgian-blue Neolith countertop on the island where the goose feet stoneware would live. As the final touch, we brought in Miss Cow, whose bright green background and pink nose added the perfect pop of color and demanded attention. Finally, we vetted a contractor to work on the updates—someone both we and the client could trust.

For their new family home in St Combs, the client approached us with a clear vision: a modern, efficient kitchen equipped with an island and tall units seamlessly integrated into the wall. We decided on the Nolte Feel range, enhanced by the MatrixArt Handleless trims featuring integrated lighting. The primary colour chosen was white, paired with Lava accent doors to provide depth and contrast. The 20mm Silestone Coral Clay worktop with a mitred waterfall end panel beautifully complemented the overall design, topped off with a Nolte Holm Oak breakfast bar. Consistency and reliability were pivotal; thus, we opted for an all-NEFF appliance suite. This included a single oven, combi microwave, warming drawer, induction hob, ceiling extraction, full-height fridge and freezer, wine cooler, and dishwasher. To enhance the kitchen further, we added a Blanco Subline single bowl undermounted sink in Tartufo and a Quooker Stainless Steel FLEX instant boiling water tap. Project Completion The property is an amazing transformation. We've taken a dark and formerly disjointed house and broken down the rooms barriers to create a light and spacious home for all the family. Our client’s love spending time together and they now they have a home where all generations can comfortably come together under one roof. The open plan kitchen / living space is large enough for everyone to gather whilst there are areas like the snug to get moments of peace and quiet away from the hub of the home. We’ve substantially increased the size of the property using no more than the original footprint of the existing house. The volume gained has allowed them to create five large bedrooms, two with en-suites and a family bathroom on the first floor providing space for all the family to stay. The home now combines bright open spaces with secluded, hidden areas, designed to make the most of the views out to their private rear garden and the landscape beyond.
