This ranch was a complete renovation! We took it down to the studs and redesigned the space for this young family. We opened up the main floor to create a large kitchen with two islands and seating for a crowd and a dining nook that looks out on the beautiful front yard. We created two seating areas, one for TV viewing and one for relaxing in front of the bar area. We added a new mudroom with lots of closed storage cabinets, a pantry with a sliding barn door and a powder room for guests. We raised the ceilings by a foot and added beams for definition of the spaces. We gave the whole home a unified feel using lots of white and grey throughout with pops of orange to keep it fun.

The Simple and tall cabinetry, the black pendants and two tone neutral color palette define the modern aesthetic of the kitchen. The Dacor appliances blend and disappear fully into the cabinetry where needed, while the modernist range, with its elegant brass burners, complements the minimalist design. The built-in banquette was over-sized to bring color into the room and to frame the Tulip breakfast table. The prints in the breakfast area, are from the Wynwood District of Miami, were photographed by Luly. They are a refreshing and colorful reminder of her home town. Black accents, rectilinear hardware, and light countertops provide just enough of a delicate balance to the show-stopping combination of Dacor appliances. The end result is a smart, modern kitchen with warm and colorful touches that make it an extremely functional crowning jewel of the home.

We completely transformed this first floor, removing walls separating the dining room from the kitchen, closing windows to accommodate a large cooking area, adding a large window over the sink to view the gorgeous outdoor kitchen and patio, and stair and fireplace renovations. This new large kitchen offers 2 islands with 2 different heights, for multi height chefs, a wall of pantry storage with frosted glass and aluminum doors, a chef's pantry, aluminum appliance storage garage, Quartz tops and an island with waterfall edges. Linear gray veneer mixed with high gloss white custom European style cabinetry with aluminum touches makes this the perfect combo of finish and textures.

キッチンは美味しい食事を作るためには欠かせないスペース。毎日使う場所だからこそ、機能性だけではなくおしゃれさにもこだわりたいものです。ここでは、使い勝手の良さやおしゃれさにこだわったモダンスタイルのマルチアイランドキッチンのリフォーム事例と、マルチアイランドキッチンリフォームのポイントをご紹介します。

Ⅰ型マルチアイランドキッチン
Ⅰ型マルチアイランドキッチンは最も一般的なレイアウトで、シンク、調理台、コンロ、冷蔵庫が横一線に並んだタイプのマルチアイランドキッチンです。最近では、対面カウンターを付けて背面に収納スペースと冷蔵庫を置くなど、Ⅱ型やアイランド型に似たタイプのレイアウトも人気です。
Ⅱ型マルチアイランドキッチン
Ⅱ型キッチンはシンク、調理台、コンロ、冷蔵庫を2カ所に分け、平行に配置することで調理スペースを広げるレイアウトです。調理の際の動線が短くなるというメリットがあります。
L型マルチアイランドキッチン
L型マルチアイランドキッチンは、シンク、調理台、コンロがL字型に配置されたレイアウトです。ワークトライアングルを作りやすく、動線をコンパクトに抑えることができます。
アイランドマルチアイランドキッチン
アイランドマルチアイランドキッチンは独立型マルチアイランドキッチンとも呼ばれ、シンク、調理台などを壁面から独立させて設置するレイアウトです。調理台を囲むように作業ができるため、家族や友人など複数で楽しみながらキッチンを共有できます。ホームパーティーや料理教室をする際にも便利でしょう。
ペニンシュラマルチアイランドキッチン
ペニンシュラは英語で「半島」を意味します。マルチアイランドキッチンの左右どちらかが壁に接しているレイアウトを指します。調理スペースがオープンになっているため、リビングやダイニングにいる方とコミュニケーションを取りながら調理できるというメリットがあります。

ビルトイン機器の選択

モダンスタイルのマルチアイランドキッチンタイプのレイアウト見直しと同時に、ビルトイン機器も検討されてみてはいかがでしょうか。ビルトイン機器とは、建物や家具、設備などの中に組み込んで利用する機器を指します。システムキッチンには、ビルトインコンロ、レンジフード、オーブンレンジ、食器洗浄乾燥機を組み込むことが可能です。ビルトインであればスタイリッシュにマルチアイランドキッチンに溶け込み、インテリアの邪魔にもなりません。新築やリフォームの際に取り入れることをおすすめします。

ビルトインコンロには、それぞれ火力の異なるバーナーを組み合わせた3つ口タイプが一般的です。天板素材はガラストップが主流となっていますが、他にガラスコート、フッ素コート、ホーロー、アルミ、ステンレスなどがあります。使い勝手やデザイン、価格などを考慮して選択しましょう。
食器洗浄乾燥機
食器洗浄乾燥機 (食洗機) は手洗いよりも少ない水量できれいに食器を洗浄することができるため、新築やマルチアイランドキッチンのリフォーム時には食洗機の導入をおすすめします。国内製のビルトイン食洗機の場合は引き出し式になっているタイプが多いのに対し、海外製のビルトイン食洗機は前開き式になっているものが一般的です。国内製・海外製それぞれで、設置業者や設置可能なシステムマルチアイランドキッチンが異なる場合があるため注意しましょう。

収納スペースのアイデア
