This Queen Anne style five story townhouse in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn is one of a pair that were built in 1887 by Charles Erhart, a co-founder of the Pfizer pharmaceutical company. The brownstone façade was restored in an earlier renovation, which also included work to main living spaces. The scope for this new renovation phase was focused on restoring the stair hallways, gut renovating six bathrooms, a butler’s pantry, kitchenette, and work to the bedrooms and main kitchen. Work to the exterior of the house included replacing 18 windows with new energy efficient units, renovating a roof deck and restoring original windows. In keeping with the Victorian approach to interior architecture, each of the primary rooms in the house has its own style and personality. The Parlor is entirely white with detailed paneling and moldings throughout, the Drawing Room and Dining Room are lined with shellacked Oak paneling with leaded glass windows, and upstairs rooms are finished with unique colors or wallpapers to give each a distinct character. The concept for new insertions was therefore to be inspired by existing idiosyncrasies rather than apply uniform modernity. Two bathrooms within the master suite both have stone slab walls and floors, but one is in white Carrara while the other is dark grey Graffiti marble. The other bathrooms employ either grey glass, Carrara mosaic or hexagonal Slate tiles, contrasted with either blackened or brushed stainless steel fixtures. The main kitchen and kitchenette have Carrara countertops and simple white lacquer cabinetry to compliment the historic details.

Reforma de una cocina completa. La cocina inicial tenia una disposición en "U" que creaba espacios pocos útiles e incómodos, y una zona de semicolumnas que privaba a los clientes de tener una superfície de trabajo de tamaño adecuado. Se optó por cambiar radicalmente la distribución y dividir la cocina en zona de almacenamiento y cocción en un lado, y en el lado contrario zona de limpieza y desayuno. Generando una disposición de usos muy práctica y espaciosa.

En éste proyecto se pretendía aportar luz y sensación de amplitud a una cocina que resultaba oscura y pequeña. De ésta manera optamos por el uso de mobiliario en blanco brillo y madera. De ésta manera aportamos luminosidad a la cocina sin perder la calidez que necesita un espacio tan importante de la vivienda. En éste caso además, para ahorrar en costes, se mantuvieron los armazones de los armarios, ya que eran de buena calidad y se encontraban en buen estado. Con lo que se colocaron nuevos frentes de cocina en madera en los muebles bajos y frontales con tirador oculto en estratificado blanco brillo en los muebles altos aportando luminosidad y ligereza.

The proposed scheme comprises a total of more 300sq.ft extension to the existing properties. The planning pernmission was granted for a rear extension at second floor level and erection of a two storey rear extension at ground and first floor level following the demolition of an existing single storey rear extension. The property is a three-storey terrace house sitting in a quiet road in Hammersmith. LCAW has been appointed to design a side and rear extension in order to make additional spaces for the requirement of a growing family.
