For this client we looked at a number of designs to help them decide whether to extend or not. In the end they decided to open up the ground floor. We widened the patio doors, took down all the internal walls and created an open plan kitchen/dining/living space that the client loves.

A stunning period property in the heart of London, the homeowners of this beautiful town house have created a stunning, boutique hotel vibe throughout, and Burlanes were commissioned to design and create a kitchen with charisma and rustic charm. Handpainted in Farrow & Ball 'Studio Green', the Burlanes Hoyden cabinetry is handmade to fit the dimensions of the room exactly, complemented perfectly with Silestone worktops in 'Iconic White'.

A bespoke, handmade Shaker style kitchen with ‘in-frame’ mortice and tennon jointed doors hung with traditional burnished brass butt hinges. This luxurious kitchen features Oak dovetailed and polished drawer boxes on soft-close concealed runners and rigid Birch plywood carcasses. All units have been factory painted in Basalt Blue from Little Greene Paint & Paper, to complement the worktops in Silestone Quartz Blanco Zeus extreme. All cup handles and knobs are in burnished brass. The range cooker is by Mercury, whilst all other appliances are from Bosch. The brassware is from Perrin & Rowe. Harvey Ball Photography Ltd

Hand painted in a light grey it transforms and brighten the open plan living space. A beautiful and timeless addition to this Hertfordshire home.

Dans cette cuisine qui était initialement une chambre, nous avons dessiné une cuisine équipée sur mesure avec tout l'électroménager nécessaire à ce couple qui cuisine et reçoit beaucoup dont une cave à vin et une hotte intégrée à la plaque de cuisson. Le plan de travail est en quartz effet marbre. Et, nous avons même pu créer un coin repas grâce à cet îlot arrondi qui apporte également un rangement supplémentaire.

The Hartford collection is an inspired modern update on the classic Shaker style kitchen. Designed with simplicity in mind, the kitchens in this range have a universal appeal that never fails to delight. Each kitchen is beautifully proportioned, with an unerring focus on scale that ensures the final result is flawless. The traditional style range cooker is everything you expect from an Aga but with the flexibility of gas and electric. This model is much more suited to modern families where we need instant heat to cook on daily. The cast-iron classic design is finished in a soft grey called Pearl Ashes, perfectly balancing the whole kitchen scheme. Other appliances such as the Miele fridge are cleverly integrated behind floor-to-ceiling cabinets.

An amazing social space incorporating the kitchen, an island to seat 6, a liquid metal bar, wine storage and a 10 person dining table. All the furniture was over-sized to suit the scale of the room and the 3 metre high ceilings.

The unsual setting of the property on a hill in Kingston, along with tricky planning considerations, meant that we had to achieve a space split into different floor levels and with an irregular shape. This allowed us to create diverse spaces inside and out maximizing the natural light ingress on the east and south whilst optimizing the connection between internal and external areas. Vaulted ceilings, crisp finishes, minimalistic lines, modern windows and doors, and a sharp composite cladding resulted in an elegant, airy, and well-lighted dream home.

This kitchen was very 1980s and the homeowners were ready for a change. As amateur chefs, they had a lot of requests and appliances to accommodate but we were up for the challenge. Taking the kitchen back down to the studs, we began to open up their kitchen while providing them plenty of storage to conceal their bulk storage and many small appliances. Replacing their existing refrigerator with a panel-ready column refrigerator and freezer, helped keep the sleek look of the cabinets without being disrupted by appliances. The vacuum sealer drawer is an integrated part as well, hidden by the matching cabinet drawer front. Even the beverage cooler has a door that matches the cabinetry of the island. The stainless, professional-grade gas range stands out amongst the white cabinets and its brass touches match the cabinet hardware, faucet, pot-filler, and veining through the quartzite. The show-stopper of this kitchen is this amazing book-matched quartzite with its deep blues and brass veining and this incredible sink that was created out of it as well, to continue the continuity of this kitchen. The enormous island is covered with the same stone but with the dark wood, it provides a dramatic flair. The mercury glass pendants, do not distract but complete the look. An amazing social space incorporating the kitchen, an island to seat 6, a liquid metal bar, wine storage and a 10 person dining table. All the furniture was over-sized to suit the scale of the room and the 3 metre high ceilings.

The elegant look of grey is hot in kitchen design; a pop of color to base cabinets or center island adds visual interest to your design. This kitchen also features integrated appliances and hidden storage. The open concept floor plan opens up to a breakfast area and butler's pantry. Ceramic subway tile, quartzite countertops and stainless steel appliances provide a sleek finish while the rich stain to the hardwood floors adds warmth to the space. Butler's pantry with walnut top and khaki sideboard with corbel accent bring a touch of drama to the design.

Knocking through between a small kitchen and dining room then adding a glass extension created a beautiful open, airy space with room for a huge island and a separate bar/coffee/drinks station alongside the comfy seating area. To keep the open feel, the tall units and sink cabinets were painted in Farrow and Ball Ammonite, a neutral greige tone whilst the island and bar run are painted in a lovely blue green shade that changes with the light, Little Greene Paint Company Squid Ink. There are two instant hot water Quooker taps, one on the main sink for use when cooking and a second on the bar run when making teas and coffee, a real luxury.

Ground floor extension of an end-of-1970s property. ​ Making the most of an open-plan space with fitted furniture that allows more than one option to accommodate guests when entertaining. The new rear addition has allowed us to create a clean and bright space, as well as to optimize the space flow for what originally were dark and cramped ground floor spaces.
