Marsh Kitchen & Bath
Marsh Kitchen & Bath designer Cherece Hatcher created a bold kitchen and bath combo for a builder who wanted something modern and different. Her designs offer a striking presentation that carry the home's modern architecture into the smallest details.
Crystal Kitchen + Bath
A newly retired couple had purchased their 1989 home because it offered everything they needed on one level. He loved that the house was right on the Mississippi River with access for docking a boat. She loved that there was two bedrooms on the Main Level, so when the grandkids came to stay, they had their own room.
The dark, traditional style kitchen with wallpaper and coffered ceiling felt closed off from the adjacent Dining Room and Family Room. Although the island was large, there was no place for seating. We removed the peninsula and reconfigured the kitchen to create a more functional layout that includes 9-feet of 18-inch deep pantry cabinets The new island has seating for four and is orientated to the window that overlooks the back yard and river. Flat-paneled cabinets in a combination of horizontal wood and semi-gloss white paint add to the modern, updated look. A large format tile (24” x 24”) runs throughout the kitchen and into the adjacent rooms for a continuous, monolithic look.
Integrated Home Improvement
Both the design and construction teams put their heart into making sure we worked with the client to achieve this gorgeous vision. The client was sensitive to both aesthetic and functionality goals, so we set out to improve their old, dated cramped kitchen, with an open concept that facilitates cooking workflow, and dazzles the eye with its mid century modern design. One of their biggest items was their need for increased storage space. We certainly achieved that with ample cabinet space and doubling their pantry space.
The 13 foot waterfall island is the centerpiece, which is heavily utilized for cooking, eating, playing board games and hanging out. The pantry behind the walnut doors used to be the fridge space, and there's an extra pantry now to the left of the current fridge. We moved the sink from the counter to the island, which really helped workflow (we created triangle between cooktop, sink and fridge/pantry 2). To make the cabinets flow linearly at the top we moved and replaced the window. The beige paint is called alpaca from Sherwin Williams and the blue is charcoal blue from sw.
Everything was carefully selected, from the horizontal grain on the walnut cabinets, to the subtly veined white quartz from Arizona tile, to the black glass paneled luxury hood from Futuro Futuro. The pendants and chandelier are from West Elm. The flooring is from karastan; a gorgeous engineered, white oak in herringbone pattern. The recessed lights are decorative from Lumens. The pulls are antique brass from plank hardware (in London). We sourced the door handles and cooktop (Empava) from Houzz. The faucet is Rohl and the sink is Bianco.
White Wood Kitchens
Designed by Gail O'Rourke from White Wood Kitchens, this Cape Cod kitchen compliments the ocean with Agean Mist painted cabinets. The cabinets feature Roseburg doors and are made by Fieldstone Cabinetry. The countertop is a Montgomery quartz that is accompanied by white subway tile. White appliances fit the overall vibe of this kitchen, allowing for fun accent colors to be added later.
The bathroom has a natural cherry vanity along with a built in linen closet. There is also a laundry cabinet. Builder: Campbell Construction.

Murphy Bros. Design | Build | Remodel
Although the general layout of the kitchen, laundry, stairs, and powder room remains the same, significant upgrades were done to each space. All countertops were upgraded to Cambria. A new Wolf cooktop led the way on appliance upgrades. Our design also called for a dedicated coffee bar and sink next to the refrigerator. The main floor carpet was replaced with new oak flooring, which was blended (toothed in) with the existing oak for a seamless appearance. The columns between the dining & front living room were removed. Such a 90's thing. Major work was done to the entryway staircase, including new railings, carpet, and surrounding walls to create an entirely new first impression impact.
A microwave drawer was included in the design of the new larger island. We did widen the doorway a few inches for better access between the kitchen & dining, relocated the vacuum vent, and new door casing. Under-cabinet lights and outlets were also added. We retextured the kitchen ceiling & painted walls in the kitchen, dining room, family room, living room, office, and upstairs hallway.
The mudroom & laundry got new tile, countertops, and backsplash. The main floor powder room now has a new floating vanity, toilet, mirror, sink & faucet.
