For this project, the initial inspiration for our clients came from seeing a modern industrial design featuring barnwood and metals in our showroom. Once our clients saw this, we were commissioned to completely renovate their outdated and dysfunctional kitchen and our in-house design team came up with this new space that incorporated old world aesthetics with modern farmhouse functions and sensibilities. Now our clients have a beautiful, one-of-a-kind kitchen which is perfect for hosting and spending time in. Modern Farm House kitchen built in Milan Italy. For this kitchen remodel, our client was looking to update their kitchen without changing their existing countertop. Since the cabinet boxes were in good condition, cabinet refacing was the perfect solution for them. They went with a shaker door done in maple and a Mediterranean spray-no-wipe from our Kitchen Solvers Showcase Collection line. We also made a custom-built range hood and tv stand area for them as well. To finish this transformation, we installed a new 3” x 6” Mediterranean Ivory Honed Travertine backsplash. This home was built in the early 2000’s. We completely reconfigured the kitchen, updated the breakfast room, added a bar to the living room, updated a powder room, a staircase and several fireplaces.

The large island has loads of drawers and cabinets for additional storage space...not to mention the perfect spot for sampling whatever the cook is dishing up. A custom coffered ceiling helps to define the spaces in this large open great room area. This custom home was designed and built by Meadowlark Design+Build in Ann Arbor, Michigan. To save money, we used an existing house design our builder had worked on previously and made changes to the layout to open up the space and maximize on our incredible lake views. The first thing we changed was to flip the kitchen layout and move the stove and hood to the side wall to make room for a window and some open shelving over a farmhouse sink. This allowed us to maximize the partial lake views on the south side of the house and saved money on additional custom cabinets. We also removed a smaller pantry that was closing off the open space between the kitchen and living room. Instead, we turned the corner of the kitchen into a much larger, walk-in pantry that also saved us a bit on granite costs and added a ton of storage.
