A small beachside home was reconfigured to allow for a larger kitchen opening to the back yard with compact adjacent laundry. The feature tiled wall makes quite a statement with striking dark turquoise hand-made tiles. The wall conceals the small walk-in pantry we managed to fit in behind. Used for food storage and making messy afternoon snacks without cluttering the open plan kitchen/dining living room. Lots of drawers and benchspace in the actual kitchen make this kitchen a dream to work in. And enhances the whole living dining space.

This 1950's kitchen hindered our client's cooking and bi-weekly entertaining and was inconsistent with the home's mid-century architecture. Additional key goals were to improve function for cooking and entertaining 6 to 12 people on a regular basis. Originally with only two entry points to the kitchen (from the entry/foyer and from the dining room) the kitchen wasn’t very open to the remainder of the home, or the living room at all. The door to the carport was never used and created a conflict with seating in the breakfast area. The new plans created larger openings to both rooms, and a third entry point directly into the living room. The “peninsula” manages the sight line between the kitchen and a large, brick fireplace while still creating an “island” effect in the kitchen and allowing seating on both sides. The television was also a “must have” utilizing it to watch cooking shows while prepping food, for news while getting ready for the day, and for background when entertaining. Meticulously designed cabinets provide ample storage and ergonomically friendly appliance placement. Cabinets were previously laid out into two L-shaped spaces. On the “top” was the cooking area with a narrow pantry (read: scarce storage) and a water heater in the corner. On the “bottom” was a single 36” refrigerator/freezer, and sink. A peninsula separated the kitchen and breakfast room, truncating the entire space. We have now a clearly defined cool storage space spanning 60” width (over 150% more storage) and have separated the ovens and cooking surface to spread out prep/clean zones. True pantry storage was added, and a massive “peninsula” keeps seating for up to 6 comfortably, while still expanding the kitchen and gaining storage. The newly designed, oversized peninsula provides plentiful space for prepping and entertaining. Walnut paneling wraps the room making the kitchen a stunning showpiece.

This oceanside contemporary condominium is a sophisticated space that evokes relaxation. Using the bright blue and easy feel of the ocean as both an inspiration and a backdrop, soft rich fabrics in beach tones were used to maintain the peacefulness of the coastal surroundings. With soft hues of blue and simple lush design elements, this living space is a wonderful blend of coastal calmness and contemporary style. Historic homes often undergo several remodels over their lifetime, though these updates can often stray from the home’s original design intention. This couple realized their 1990 kitchen remodel with cherry cabinets and granite countertops no longer felt in sync with the home’s overall aesthetic. Incorporating character and charm into their kitchen was important, and the new finishes now more appropriately reflect the 1920s style of their home.

Bringing a dated kitchen back to life has never been more apparent than in this amazing transformation. We all live with our “Just Fine” kitchens for so long. This family had had enough. Today, we bring you this modernized remodel in Corona, CA. The first thing you notice is the stark white shaker cabinets topped with a quartz countertop that mimics Carrara tile. Pendant lights over the new oversized kitchen island, which we extended for seating, top off the look of the new space. Adding light blue, glass tile, in a brick pattern up to the ceiling adds a touch of classic color. Atop the new cabinets is a custom soffit that not only adds character, but helps to conceal the ventilation for the stove and oven vent. A beautiful and useful addition. The kitchen sink is a centerpiece of it’s own, an apron front Kohler, single bowl, porcelain over cast iron masterpiece. Adding a Moen faucet with a built in extendable spray arm attachment conforms with the clean look of the room. As usual we added Lazy Susan’s in the corner cabinets, and banks for full extension drawers into the island for storage and functionality. A couple of accents are the new under cabinet LED lights, and the frosted glass door fronts on both the corner cabinet and the pantry door. But we didn’t stop there! New flooring leads you from the front door, through the kitchen and family room, off into the upgraded powder room. A 6x36 porcelain, commercially rated tile, and of course finished with acrylic grout for cleanliness. In the family room, to bring it up to date as well since it adjoins the kitchen, an all-new fireplace and entertainment center were built. Slate stacked stone, framed outward, to become a focal point in the room sits next to the clean and sturdy new entertainment center. Built with glass door fronts donned with dimmer lights, and bottom cabinets and shelving for the necessities at the bottom of the unit. These homeowners knew just what they wanted, and we were so happy to provide the perfect living space, custom designed for their family.

Rustic-Modern Finnish Kitchen Our client was inclined to transform this kitchen into a functional, Finnish inspired space. Finnish interior design can simply be described in 3 words: simplicity, innovation, and functionalism. Finnish design addresses the tough climate, unique nature, and limited sunlight, which inspired designers to create solutions, that would meet the everyday life challenges. The combination of the knotty, blue-gray alder base cabinets combined with the clean white wall cabinets reveal mixing these rustic Finnish touches with the modern. The leaded glass on the upper cabinetry was selected so our client can display their personal collection from Finland. Mixing black modern hardware and fixtures with the handmade, light, and bright backsplash tile make this kitchen a timeless show stopper. This client home needed to be updated and join the 21st century.....and we started by creating a somewhat open concept, so the kitchen was not separated from the great room. We created a peninsula from the galley style kitchen and added bar seating. A new floor plan was created and moving the sink under the kitchen window, moving the range to the wall to be vented properly, and fridge and pantry are all in their perfect thought-out place for a proper functioning kitchen.
