Walls were removed and doors moved to open this kitchen to the living/dining room and outdoor living. External door to the laundry was removed and a matching window at splashback level was installed. The existing slate floors were retained and repaired. A warm white laminate was used for the main doors and drawer fronts with timber veneer highlights added to open shelves and overhead cabinets. Black feature canopy chosen to match the floor and black glass induction cooktop. The new owners of a huge Mt. Airy estate were looking to renovate the kitchen in their perfectly preserved and maintained home. We gutted the 1990's kitchen and adjoining breakfast room (except for a custom-built hutch) and set about to create a new kitchen made to look as if it was a mixture of original pieces from when the mansion was built combined with elements added over the intervening years. The classic white cabinetry with 54" uppers and stainless worktops, quarter-sawn oak built-ins and a massive island "table" with a huge slab of schist stone countertop all add to the functional and timeless feel. We chose a blended quarry tile which provides a rich, warm base in the sun-drenched room. The existing hutch was the perfect place to house the owner's extensive cookbook collection. We stained it a soft blue-gray which along with the red of the floor, is repeated in the hand-painted Winchester tile backsplash.

The writing desk in this kitchen overlooks the Pacific Ocean. It's the perfect place to eat breakfast and reflect.

Client is a young professional who wanted to brighten her kitchen and make unique elements that reflects her style. KTID replaced side cabinets with reclaimed wood shelves. Crystal knobs replace Dry Bar Drawer pulls.. KTID suggested lowering the bar height counter, creating a rustic vs elegant style using reclaimed wood, glass backsplash and quartz waterfall countertop. KTID changed paint color to a darker shade of blue. The pantry was enlarged by removing the wall between the pantry and the refrigerator and putting in a pantry cabinet with roll-out shelves.

This project is best described in one word: Fun – Oh wait, and bold! This homes mid-century modern construction style was inspiration that married nicely to our clients request to also have a home with a glamorous and lux vibe. We have a long history of working together and the couple was very open to concepts but she had one request: she loved blue, in any and all forms, and wanted it to be used liberally throughout the house. This new-to-them home was an original 1966 ranch in the Calvert area of Lincoln, Nebraska and was begging for a new and more open floor plan to accommodate large family gatherings. The house had been so loved at one time but was tired and showing her age and an allover change in lighting, flooring, moldings as well as development of a new and more open floor plan, lighting and furniture and space planning were on our agenda. This album is a progression room to room of the house and the changes we made. We hope you enjoy it! This was such a fun and rewarding project and In the end, our Musician husband and glamorous wife had their forever dream home nestled in the heart of the city.

A kitchen and sunroom addition turned a very small and outdated kitchen into a sunny and open place for cooking and entertaining. A rustic wood island is a great contrast to the contemporary cabinets and metallic glass backsplash. Copper accents bring in warmth.

When retired clients decided to combine their individual homes into a newly purchased one, they turned to us to help them combine their styles. Their love of mid-century Modern and their love of traveling the world were a perfect jumping off point. He traveled Asia and she traveled Europe. The 1920s home they purchased had an open floor plan, except the kitchen which we renovated into a kitchen/sunroom addition. the space tripled in size and added a lot of natural light into the home. Custom cabinets, a cork floor and copper pendants add warmth, and the blue glass backsplash brings a nice compliment of cool color. The beams coordinate with the kitchen cabinet finish.
