A new open design from a dark and closed in space. The old U-shaped kitchen with two peninsula uppers is now an open, light and airy space complete with a new prep island and plenty of storage. The dramatic Cambria countertops and back-splash compliments the stained Alder cabinets. New recessed lighting along with the island pendant create a great work space.

Kitchen in newly remodeled home- entire building design by Maraya Design, built by Droney Construction. Arto terra cotta floors, hand waxed, newly designed rustic open beam ceiling, plaster hood, white painted cabinetry, oak counters, and leathered ocean black granite island counter. Limestone backsplash. Light painted walls with dark wood flooring. Walls with thick plaster arches, simple and intricate tile designs, feel very natural and earthy in the warm Southern California sun. Plaster range hood and custom painted Malibu tile back splash. Stained wood beams and trusses, planked ceilings over wide planked oak floors with several shapes of hand dark waxed terra cotta tiles. This traditional kitchen design has a surprise around every corner, as it comes packed with amazing storage options throughout the kitchen. Behind the cherry glaze DuraSupreme cabinetry is a treasure trove of storage, including pull out shelves for small appliances, spice storage, a cutlery drawer insert, vertical storage for baking trays and cutting boards, a dish drawer with peg inserts, and a built in microwave. The island also includes a hidden ice dispenser and bar stools that store neatly underneath the island. A slate veneer hood, SubZero Wolf appliances, and Danze faucet are among the kitchen design details that make it the perfect center of this home.

The homeowners wanted a stylish new kitchen, inclusive of new cabinets, countertops and backsplash. They requested that we upgrade their builder’s grade cabinets to a brighter white kitchen. Acquire a whole new look with new cabinets in Madison style doors and drawer. Build quality, custom cabinets with a sophisticated look and feel. The creamy white Colourtone doors have Coffee glaze offset the stark white look beautifully. The new kitchen’s color and style design is inviting and enriches the home’s overall décor. We created a kitchen showplace that the homeowners could be proud by incorporating design details that would make their kitchen unique 1. Installed new cabinets, doors, drawers, glass fronts, cabinet details, tile backsplash and flip open basement windows. Used light colors to brighten up the space. 2. Additions of interior storage and a custom wine rack to maximize storage and functionality. This would also assist while entertaining guests. 3. Stay within budget: The Designer’s strategy to install new cabinets while staying within budget would be challenge however, we gave them end- of-year discounts to help with the costs. The original kitchen in this condominium was renovated arising from the need to replace Kitec plumbing. The work triangle remained generally the same, but numerous changes were made to improve the kitchen’s functionality, aesthetics, and lighting. Automation was also introduced. The goal was to design and build a modern contemporary functional kitchen with inspiring colours accented with textured wood features. The functionality was improved with the addition of an under counter microwave, which freed up countertop space. Additional and improved storage was also created by incorporating under cabinet drawers throughout the kitchen, a bar area with open glass shelving above, and open shelving to the right of the seating area. Upper cabinet storage was as well increased with storage above the fridge. Numerous lighting improvements were made including the addition of potlights. This was done by dropping the ceiling in the kitchen, which also created a visual division with the dining area. Automation was introduced as well into the space with HUE under cabinet lighting, and a touch faucet. The under cabinet lights are controlled by the Phillips Hue App that programs routines, scenes, and other settings. The kitchen features painted Shaker cabinets accented by textured wood shelving. The countertop surfaces are quartz with waterfalls on both sides of the island, which is a focal point. Shapes are also strongly identified in the design with the use of triangular tiles in the backsplash along with rectangular upper cabinets, and appliance doors and drawers. The kitchen is made most unique though with the uplifting use of colour in the cabinets that make this a bright and cheerful space. Aristea Photography

A remodel of a small home, we were excited that the owners wanted to stay true to the character of an Arts & Crafts style. An aesthetic movement in history, the Arts & Crafts approach to design is a timeless statement, making this our favorite aspect of the project. Mirrored in the execution of the kitchen design is the mindset of showcasing the craftsmanship of decorative design and the appreciation of simple lines and quality construction. This kitchen sings of an architectural vibe, yet does not take away from the welcoming nature of the layout. Project specs: Wolf range and Sub Zero refrigerator, Limestone counter tops, douglas fir floor, quarter sawn oak cabinets from Quality Custom Cabinetry, The table features a custom hand forged iron base, the embellishment is simple in this kitchen design, with well placed subtle detailing that match the style period.
