This charming little kitchen is made picture perfect with classic white cabinetry and quartzite counter tops paired with walnut. Elegant details include the stunning pendant lights, gold faucet and barque glass. Floating shelves and glass hardware complete this glamorous yet cozy space.

Walls with thick plaster arches and simple tile designs feel very natural and earthy in the warm Southern California sun. Terra cotta floor tiles are stained to mimic very old tile inside and outside in the Spanish courtyard shaded by a 'new' old olive tree. The outdoor plaster and brick fireplace has touches of antique Indian and Moroccan items. An outdoor garden shower graces the exterior of the master bath with freestanding white tub- while taking advantage of the warm Ojai summers. The open kitchen design includes all natural stone counters of white marble, a large range with a plaster range hood and custom hand painted tile on the back splash. Wood burning fireplaces with iron doors, great rooms with hand scraped wide walnut planks in this delightful stay cool home. Stained wood beams, trusses and planked ceilings along with custom creative wood doors with Spanish and Indian accents throughout this home gives a distinctive California Exotic feel. This custom made kitchen cabinet boasts cherry, raised panel doors with crown molding, decorative drawer fronts, glass backsplash tile, granite counters and many added storage features. With a built in buffet with wall cabinets above and an entire wall of custom shelving, desk and media center this kitchen is truly the hub of this home. This custom made tray divider uses the extra space on top for cutting board storage.

Todd selected the IKEA VOXTORP and RINGHULT cabinet fronts and SEKTION cabinets because the product line checked three key boxes on his wish list: Great pricing, known quality and the modern design style he needed. Todd explains: “I spend a lot of time on HOUZZ and Pinterest so I had a clear vision of what I wanted. With this kitchen I knew that details are important and the closest IKEA is two hours away. I did not want to be making trips back and forth constantly. I wanted to go once, order, get them delivered and be done with it.” He notes that he bought a lot of the fixtures from Amazon, which included open box items to save on cost.

Complete remodel design involving relocation of appliances, entry door and windows. Green remodel using predominantly salvaged materials. Cabinets salvaged from multiple places and SubZero salvaged from yet another source were unified with paint and knobs. One-can-deep pantry with salvaged antique doors and brass hardware recessed between studs to free up floor space.

Maximizing the functionality of this space, and coordinating the new kitchen with the beautiful remodel completed previously by the client were the two most important aspects of this project. The existing spaces are elegantly decorated with an open plan, dark hardwood floors, and natural stone accents. The new, lighter, more open kitchen flows beautifully into the client’s existing dining room space. Satin nickel hardware blends with the stainless steel appliances and matches the satin nickel details throughout the home. The fully integrated refrigerator next to the narrow pull-out pantry cabinet, take up less visual weight than a traditional stainless steel appliance and the two combine to provide fantastic storage. The glass cabinet doors and decorative lighting beautifully highlight the client’s glassware and dishes.
