The kitchen is unique in that 3 finishes are mixed to give the appearance of a European kitchen where collected ins. The subtle green on the refrigerator and wine wall blends effortlessly with the glazed ivory cabinets and warm, rich tones of the alder island. Dining stools by Lorts in yet another wore finish with the brown leather seats compliment the wrought iron pendants and the custom-made hammered copper hood. Two granites are used. The island granite shows lots of movement while the perimeter utilizes a black leathered granite. Distressed Lorts bar stools complete the look. The original floor plan of this home was a traditional compartmentalized schematic with boxed kitchen, living room and dining room. The client wanted to open up the space but maintain an area for the kitchen proper. To accomplish this all of the dividing walls were removed and a new ridge beam was installed. A floating wall with built in cabinetry and three way fireplace is the new focal point of the home and provides separation in space while maintaining the openness the client wanted. The modern minimalist design with sleek lines and clean finishes is balanced and warmed by the caramel of the cabinetry. The pallet is given more depth with the high contrast bright white waterfall countertop on the island and parallel cabinets. This dimension is enhanced with the addition of two crisp white matching cabinet fronts. The symmetry of the design is enriched with touch latch technology and upper and lower built in cabinet lighting. Add a built in cappuccino machine, all new appliances and a custom multi directional light fixture clad to match the cabinetry and its Mission Accomplished for this transformed gathering place.

The keeping room, adjacent to the kitchen, creates a cozy gathering place for reading with four leather Hancock and Moore club chairs gathered around a round vintage cocktail table. Pillows are done in fabrics to compliment the Persian rug and the custom wool plaid drapes with fabric from Ralph Lauren. Hand-forged drapery hardware blends effortlessly with the stained trim, tongue and groove ceiling, The room overlooks the scenic mountain view and the screened in porch complete with wood burning fireplace. The kitchen is splendid with knotty alder custom cabinets, handmade peeled bark legs were crafted to support the chiseled edge granite. A hammered copper farm sink compliments the custom copper range hood while the slate backsplash adds color. Barstools from Old Hickory, also with peeled bark frames are upholstered in a casual red and gold fabric back with brown leather seats.
