All custom made cabinetry that was color matched to the entire suite of GE Cafe matte white appliances paired with champagne bronze hardware that coordinates beautifully with the Delta faucet and cabinet / drawer hardware. The counter surfaces are Artic White quartz with custom hand painted clay tiles for the entire range wall with custom floating shelves and backsplash. We used my favorite farrow & ball Babouche 223 (yellow) paint for the island and Sherwin Williams 7036 Accessible Beige on the walls. Hanging over the island is a pair of glazed clay pots that I customized into light pendants. We also replaced the builder grade hollow core back door with a custom designed iron and glass security door. The barstools were a fabulous find on Craigslist that we became mixologists with a selection of transparent stains to come up with the perfect shade of teal and we installed brand new bamboo flooring! This was such a fun project to do, even amidst Covid with all that the pandemic delayed, and a much needed burst of cheer as a daily result.

Although the kitchen is small – the appeal and the charm makes up for its small size and has a large impact on the functionality with all the modern conveniences and old charm materials. Homeowners’ request: A contemporary farmhouse kitchen with a bright feel, modern appliances and open shelving for cook books, loads of storage and a space for baking. I want my space to be functional, yet airy and not cluttered with stuff. I love my garden and would love to have easy access for all my herbs and chili peppers. I love spending my week-ends admiring the endless recipes from my cook books. Designer secret: The combination of clean, crisp counters and slick appliances contrasts nicely with the heavy pattern of the floor tile and back splash, combining warm tones for the cabinetry and rich black hardware contrasts brings it all together. The blending of painted white trim, warm grey wall paint and the lacquered warm gray-(griege) cabinets, is interesting and layered. It creates more of a custom, blended look as opposed to an all white kitchen. Restoring a 17thC farmhouse that has been in the family for generations is a real love affair for these customers near Mawnan Smith. As you can imagine we were excited to be asked to create this unique kitchen for such a personal project, but quirky angles, large electrical board, exposed brickwork, and huge fireplace certainly gave Jono a few design challenges. The range is Masterclass Kitchens Hatfield in Inkwell with Scotts Grey accents and Portland Oak cabinet interiors. Perrin & Rowe handles and statement tap with Opticolour tiled-look glass splashback completed the modern shaker look. I love the veining in the quartz, the neutral subway tile with a gentle wave, and the undercabinet lights help to accent it all.
