This classic Queenslander home in Red Hill, was a major renovation and therefore an opportunity to meet the family’s needs. With three active children, this family required a space that was as functional as it was beautiful, not forgetting the importance of it feeling inviting. The resulting home references the classic Queenslander in combination with a refined mix of modern Hampton elements.

Beautiful custom kitchen with 7” wood plank flooring, back-lit coffered ceiling tray, custom cabinetry layout with shaker style doors, glass display cabinets, matching valances, custom 'Perla Venata' quartzite countertop and backsplash material (milled from the same stone), island sink and dishwasher, secondary island for entertainment and storage, under-cabinet lighting and appliance garage. Soft-close Blum hardware with pull-out drawers and shelves. Two-color cabinet paint design, built-in refrigerator and pantry cabinet, and custom interior doors.

This Family functional Kitchen has lots of counter and storage space, and is overlooking the light filled dining area. This open concept kitchen is a Contemporary take of a Family Kitchen in which this room is essentially the heart of the home. For a house on a small inner west block, this beautiful custom-designed home really packs in the features. With a gorgeous French Provincial façade, you get your first surprise as you open the door and walk into a bespoke library, stretching over two levels. The deep blue of the custom joinery is beautifully counterbalanced by a flood of natural light and an elegant chandelier. Look up! The coffered ceiling is truly magnificent. Your eyes are also drawn immediately to the second level, where another bookcase showcases this family’s love of literature. The attention to detail is also evident in the dark hardwood floors and the crisp white wainscotting, lining the hallway to the rear family area. Also downstairs, the owners have a versatile office / media room / bedroom and a full bathroom. Like many of our designs, the indoor / outdoor flow is evident from the family friendly lounge, dining and kitchen area. With an impressive marble kitchen and expansive island bench, modern appliances are hidden behind more beautiful custom cabinetry. At the other end of this large living space, there’s a natural gas fire and stunning mantelpiece. Again, all joinery was custom designed and custom built to the owners’ exact requirements. There’s plenty of storage with a butler’s pantry off the kitchen. A mudroom and laundry are conveniently tucked away between the kitchen and double garage. Upstairs, there are four bedrooms and two bathrooms, including a luxurious master ensuite.

As always, the design process was key to the success of this project, maximising storage with clever high racking, reached with a beautiful but functional ladder. Hand painted grey this handcrafted Shaker style kitchen is elegant and timeless.

This kitchen is central to the home, but is elevated above the surrounding spaces so that sight lines to the exterior are maximized. This also brings in loads of natural daylight. The brief was to replace a recent small addition to the rear of the house with an expansive, open-plan extension that accommodates entertaining. The new addition incorporates living spaces, kitchen, scullery, dining, and outdoor living. The layout of the existing home was also partly reconfigured to incorporate a new master bedroom complete with ensuite and elegant walk-in wardrobe, a new bathroom, a sitting room, and a ‘secret’ media room.
