This remodel was for a family that wanted a contemporary style kitchen with a mix of modern and traditional elements. To bring in the traditional, we installed hardwood flooring in grey and brown tones and Shaker style cabinets but updated them in a grey-brown color for the perimeter and a navy blue for the island. The cabinet hardware is a bronze color with a modern design-bar pulls instead of knobs for all cabinets and drawers. To emulate the color of the cabinet hardware, the island pendants are a bronze wire fixture in addition to the bronze brackets holding up the wine rack display. The countertops are a marble design quartz and the appliances are stainless steel. The backsplash on the stove wall is a contemporary linen-like tile installed in a chevron design and the coffee bar area is also a linen-like tile but in an abstract design. There is a walnut shelf above the quartz countertops to bring in some warmth and rustic elements to the area. For a more contemporary feel, we left the HVAC exposed but painted it white as well as the traditional wooden beams. Overall, the design team and the clients felt the kitchen lived up to their expectations and more of what a Contemporary design could be. Photos by Rick Young

This kitchen features multiple back splashes. Above the stove is subway tile called Man about you, color Playful while the back splash over the counter is Dwyer 12 hour Dusk Glass tiles. The perimeter counter top is Black wood gran with a Rock profile. The island is Cambria Britanica. Again, the island is a dark grey while the perimeter cabinets are white. Easy access from the garage thru a mudroom for the grand kids.

View of the new contemporary kitchen from the laundry room standing adjacent to the new Samsung 84” tall fridge. The pantry and fridge locations were swapped to create better functionality of the space. The KitchenMaid multi storage pantry adjacent to the fridge includes adjustable shelving in the upper section, eight 7-1/8" deep adjustable shelves in the lower section, two 4" deep storage racks with 5 adjustable shelves on the doors and two 6-1/2" deep double-sided swing-out storage racks with 5 adjustable shelves. A base pantry pull-out cabinet is located to the right of the Bosch 800 gas range for quick access to spices and daily used ingredients. The original range was electric so a new natural gas line was run from the street into the house to provide service for the new appliance.

@Sarah.a.intelligator.esq designed this great kitchen remodel in Glendale, CA! Sarah used our Quarter Sawn Mahogany Natural Wood Slab in her kitchen redesign using the #sektion system, pairing it with neutral tones with @cletile tile and @caesarstoneus countertops to accentuate the wood grain of the #Mahogany. The kitchen feels big and airy, with great natural light from the #kitchen window, and extra seating around the waterfall island. If you look closely, you’ll see some additional custom work we did at her request, as Sarah came to us with some inspiration for a unique touch on the outer side of the island. We created wood slats from Mahogany and mounted them to custom panels, which gave her an easier installation and an awesome finish! Looking even further through the room, you’ll see our custom floating shelves to match the Mahogany faces, brass hardware from @cb2 and @cedarandmoss fixtures, and unique pendant lighting from @virginiasin__ to finish it off. Removing a wall between a small kitchen and dining room allowed for a large kitchen renovation. The slate floor, mosaic tile, granite countertops and LED lighting all make this room glow. The new layout, including a peninsula and custom cabinets, increase the room’s functionality and use of space. The homeowner’s custom glass art chandelier and pendants were the inspiration for the color scheme.

3,900 SF home that has achieved a LEED Silver certification. The house is sited on a wooded hill with southern exposure and consists of two 20’ x 84’ bars. The second floor is rotated 15 degrees beyond ninety to respond to site conditions and animate the plan. Materials include a standing seam galvalume roof, native stone, and rain screen cedar siding. A Chameleon pop-up outlet was installed within the peninsula countertop for extra flexibility using the space. Electrical strips were installed under the countertop overhang and under the upper cabinets so outlets weren't visible in the decorative end panels on the knee walls and in the backsplashes above counter. Maravilla Bianco Orion Picket Marble Mosaic tile was chosen with white, gray and brown tones for a pop of color, and was run from counter to ceiling at the decorative wood exhaust hood. The recessed upper cabinet can lights were installed to highlight the displays within the cabinets. The new in-cabinet cans, new undercabinet lighting and existing ceiling mounted recessed can lights were installed with dimmable switches for added ambiance.
