This New England home has the essence of a traditional home, yet offers a modern appeal. The home renovation and addition involved moving the kitchen to the addition, leaving the resulting space to become a formal dining and living area. The extension over the garage created an expansive open space on the first floor. The large, cleverly designed space seamlessly integrates the kitchen, a family room, and an eating area. A substantial center island made of soapstone slabs has ample space to accommodate prepping for dinner on one side, and the kids doing their homework on the other. The pull-out drawers at the end contain extra refrigerator and freezer space. Additionally, the glass backsplash tile offers a refreshing luminescence to the area. A custom designed informal dining table fills the space adjacent to the center island. Paint colors in keeping with the overall color scheme were given to the children. Their resulting artwork sits above the family computers. Chalkboard paint covers the wall opposite the kitchen area creating a drawing wall for the kids. Around the corner from this, a reclaimed door from the grandmother's home hangs in the opening to the pantry. This small studio has everything! It includes apartment size small white appliances, stunning colors (Diamond Cloud Gray cabinets), and great storage solutions! Besides the beauty of the turquoise backsplash and clean lines this small space is extremely functional! Warm wood boxes were custom made to house all of the cooking essentials in arms reach. The cabinets flow completely to the ceiling to allow for every inch of storage space to be used. Grey cabinets are even above the kitchen window. The Hamptons style kitchen is the design of Georgina Rowe. The sophisticated colour palette and use of natural materials is complimented by the Art Glass splashback. Georgina was feeling completely uninspired by tiles (for the splashback), so she opted for a custom photo artwork splashback which provides a delicate feature in perfect balance with the kitchen surrounds. Warm Pecan stained cabinets complimented by a stunning Cambria Quartz called Skarra Brae. Also Cambria, Carrick matte tops with a painted white cabinet perimeter. A white ship-lap ceiling nicely draws attention to the re-purposed barn wood beam.

These wonderful new clients found us on houzz.com. We removed the column and walls to create an open, inviting kitchen. The cabinets are a light grey, perfect if your tired of white! We introduced the customer to Caseta by Lutron to automate their lighting. We installed undercabinet LED lights that also connected to the home automation. I'm pretty sure Clyde likes this feature the most out of the entire remodel!
