The homeowners wanted to improve the layout and function of their tired 1980’s bathrooms. The master bath had a huge sunken tub that took up half the floor space and the shower was tiny and in small room with the toilet. We created a new toilet room and moved the shower to allow it to grow in size. This new space is far more in tune with the client’s needs. The kid’s bath was a large space. It only needed to be updated to today’s look and to flow with the rest of the house. The powder room was small, adding the pedestal sink opened it up and the wallpaper and ship lap added the character that it needed

This hallway bathroom is mostly used by the son of the family so you can see the clean lines and monochromatic colors selected for the job. the once enclosed shower has been opened and enclosed with glass and the new wall mounted vanity is 60" wide but is only 18" deep to allow a bigger passage way to the end of the bathroom where the alcove tub and the toilet is located. A once useless door to the outside at the end of the bathroom became a huge tall frosted glass window to allow a much needed natural light to penetrate the space but still allow privacy.

Hallway bathroom with deep cherry wood cabinets from Dura Supreme. Full overlay construction with the Dalton door style in a cherry poppyseed stain. The countertop is a quartz material from Cambria called Darlington. Hansgrohe plumbing fixtures in satin nickel. Shower has large subway tile in an off-white with the deco tile being a mixture of metal and stone pieces from Tilehsop. The cabinetry hardware is from Amerock's Westerly collection in satin nickel.

The hall and guest bath features a 60" cast iron tub by Kohler and a Brizo tub/shower valve. The Litze collection. The walnut veneer, slab door vanity cabinet matches the other cabinets in the house, with a ColorQuartz Cotton White counter and undermount sink. The wall mirror goes from counter to ceiling, with a single vanity light above the sink. A tile niche in the tub/shower surround can be seen in the reflection. This is the guest bathroom we remodeled in Mt. Vernon, NY. All new white porcelain subway tile was installed from the floor to ceiling with white crown molding around the room. We used a gray slate floor tile to compliment the subway tile in the room. California Venice Faucet was installed on the Kohler pedestal sink along with the Kohler Memoirs Toilet. Restoration Hardware mirror and wall sconces compliment the room. As for the corner tub, we reglazed it in a gloss white and added a curved chrome curtain rod to match the fixtures in the room. And finally we created a custom radiator cover to match the design and feel for this lovely remodeled guest bathroom. Photographer Peter Krupeya.

子供用バスルームリフォームのデザイン、レイアウト、費用

子供用バスルームリフォームの技法には大きく分けて「在来工法」と「ユニットバス (システムバス)」の2通りがあります。

在来工法：「在来工法」とは、壁、床、窓枠、浴槽などを実際の現場で左官、大工、タイル職人等が作り上げていく技法で、子供用バスルームの大きさや形に合わせて自由にレイアウトをデザインできたり、趣のあるタイルで壁を演出することができたりといった点が利点と言えます。昔ながらのこの技法には、費用が高い、工期が長い、年数が経つと水漏れの心配がある、などの注意点があります。
ユニットバス（システムバス）：比較的新しいこの技法は、予め工場で生産されたパーツ (壁、バスタブ、シャワーユニットなど) を現場で組み立てていく技法で、防水性、断熱性に優れ、工期を短縮できるだけでなく、費用も大幅に抑えることができます。在来工法と比べると、デザインやレイアウトの自由度が低い点が欠点としてあげられます。

ホテルライクなバスルームに誰しもが憧れたことがあるでしょう。すっきりとした収納、余計なものやプライベート感がない、トイレとバスが一緒の三点ユニットでも清潔感があるのがホテルのバスルームの特徴です。このようなシンプルな印象のバスルームにするコツは、収納をできるかぎり1カ所にまとめるということです。タオルや着替え、トイレットペーパーや洗剤など溢れがち (しかもバスルームに置きがち) な日用品のストックは、必要分だけをコンパクトに整理して、同素材や同系色の収納ボックスやラックにまとめることで、全体を統一感ある印象に見せます。ところで、このようなホテルライクなバスルームはアメリカのバスルームが元になっていますが、アメリカの Houzz サイトの特集記事 (Story) には、“Bathroom 1 1/2” や “Bathroom 3/4” などと表記されているものがあります。これは、バスルームを「バスタブ」、「シャワー」、「トイレ」、「洗面台」の4つ分けて、それぞれ 1/4 と考え、4つすべてある場合は ”Bathroom 1”、それに加えてトイレと洗面台がもう1カ所ずつある場合は “Bathroom 1 1/2”、シャワー、トイレ、洗面台だけでバスタブがない場合は “Bathroom 3/4” のように表現されます。
