Originally built in 1929 and designed by famed architect Albert Farr who was responsible for the Wolf House that was built for Jack London in Glen Ellen, this building has always had tremendous historical significance. In keeping with tradition, the new design incorporates intricate plaster crown moulding details throughout with a splash of contemporary finishes lining the corridors. From venetian plaster finishes to German engineered wood flooring this house exhibits a delightful mix of traditional and contemporary styles. Many of the rooms contain reclaimed wood paneling, discretely faux-finished Trufig outlets and a completely integrated Savant Home Automation system. Equipped with radiant flooring and forced air-conditioning on the upper floors as well as a full fitness, sauna and spa recreation center at the basement level, this home truly contains all the amenities of modern-day living. The primary suite area is outfitted with floor to ceiling Calacatta stone with an uninterrupted view of the Golden Gate bridge from the bathtub. This building is a truly iconic and revitalized space.

The new master bathroom includes two different sink types to accomodate the varying heights of the owners. The counter and shower walls are clad in glass tiles from Oceanside Glass, and the floor of the shower, the bathroom, and the contiguous bedroom are all stained concrete. The bathroom opens directly onto the bedroom so that both share uninterrupted views of the city beyond. The toilet is placed in a separate compartment for privacy, and the shower is enclosed to control moisture. Otherwise the two spaces inhabit one big room. This 1990s brick home had decent square footage and a massive front yard, but no way to enjoy it. Each room needed an update, so the entire house was renovated and remodeled, and an addition was put on over the existing garage to create a symmetrical front. The old brown brick was painted a distressed white. The 500sf 2nd floor addition includes 2 new bedrooms for their teen children, and the 12'x30' front porch lanai with standing seam metal roof is a nod to the homeowners' love for the Islands. Each room is beautifully appointed with large windows, wood floors, white walls, white bead board ceilings, glass doors and knobs, and interior wood details reminiscent of Hawaiian plantation architecture. The kitchen was remodeled to increase width and flow, and a new laundry / mudroom was added in the back of the existing garage. The master bath was completely remodeled. The neutral colours and floor to ceiling tiles elevate the sense of space. The brushed gun metal tapware contrasts well against the tiles. Curves are repeated in the mirror, shower screen and gooseneck shower head. Shutters on the window add privacy and create a beach feel. Heated towel rails ensure that the towels are dry and warm when needed.
