The design build remodeling concept for this home called for a large master suite; unrestricted space at the entry level allowing for flexible living and family use; and in the lower level, a wine cellar, home theater and recreation space, leading out to a pool.

The original idea for the renovation was for an addition that would complement the existing style of the home, a traditional approach to solving the style and compatibility issue. The homeowners, however, wanted something nobody else had — an area of free-flowing interior space that would be wall and column free.

An undulating, free form of reflective glass created a minimal challenge to the existing exterior and it directed views from the interior on an omnidirectional basis. Views from the home to the beautifully landscaped exterior benefit from uninterrupted floor-to-ceiling transparency in all the new spaces. Stone-clad steps extend from the upper-level terrace down to the pool and mimic the curve of the glass wall.

Integral to this concept was the incorporation of an enclosed space under the terrace for the five condenser units, the sound of which would have adversely impacted the solitude of this delightful setting.

In 2003, BOWA received three first-place awards for their work on this custom renovation — one NVBIA Finest for Family Living award, as well as both a regional and local NARI Contractor of the Year award.
