This breathtaking Leesburg estate located in Loudoun County, VA is a classic example of Georgian architecture. Featuring distinguished architectural characteristics such as ornamental columns, decorative pediments and Palladian windows to name a few, the 1988 home lacked many of the comforts and conveniences the family desired for their current lifestyle. The goal of this design build renovation project was to help the homeowners realize their vision: a unique home including an upstairs living space, entertainment room and space for their three Wheaten Terriers.
The first priority was to create a private, upper-level living room in which the family could relax and enjoy time together. The existing leaky rooftop terrace was transformed by the contractor into a cozy family retreat featuring a wall of glass windows leading to a balcony with beautiful vistas of the Virginia countryside.

Texture was added to the room through the use of beam and plank treatment on the ceiling and in the window details. A custom-built media cabinet provides an interior focal point for the new room.

An additional challenge to the porch remodel was to integrate the new wall of glass windows into the home’s classic Georgian architecture. This was accomplished by incorporating columns and brick arches, which used repurposed bricks from the home, into the design.
