古民家カフェの庭
過去と現在が溶け合う、再生の庭。
古民家改修に伴う、母屋と離れのカフェを繋ぐ中庭の再生。シンボルツリーである既存のモミジを引き立てる土留めや、アプローチを引き締める板石など、敷地内で採れた素材を一つひとつ再構成することで、この土地が重ねてきた記憶を未来へと繋ぐサステナブルな庭を形にした。ゆったりと幅を持たせた園路には現場の土を混ぜ込み、周囲の風景と溶け合う有機的な質感を与えている。もともとの庭をすべて壊すのではなく、そこにあるものを活かし切り、高低差のある地形をそのまま景色として受け入れる。そうして生まれた空間には、過去から現在、そして未来へと続く確かな物語が息づいている。
A Garden of Rebirth: Where Past and Present Dissolve into One
This courtyard was restored as part of the renovation of a traditional Japanese kominka, connecting the main house with a detached café.
Using materials found on site—retaining walls framing a symbolic maple and flagstones shaping the approach—we created a sustainable garden that carries the land’s memories forward.
Wide pathways infused with local soil add an organic texture that blends naturally with the surroundings. Rather than demolishing the original garden, existing elements and natural changes in elevation were embraced as part of the landscape.
The result is a space that quietly breathes with a story flowing from past to present, and into the future.
