The National Wood Flooring Association trains wood flooring professionals from basic to master craftsman levels in the art of wood flooring installation and sanding and finishing.

In NWFA's sanding and finishing courses, training includes sanding multiple wood species, sanding factory-finished and unfinished floors, sanding floors with custom borders and medallions. It includes expert application of stains, sealers and finishes. It includes performing specialized skills, such as hand scraping, wood floor repairs and board replacements, to conduct recoats and final coat applications, to match stains and colors.
