Hickman Lumber started in 1938 by Harry Hickman. Today the 4th generations of Hickmans are working at the sawmill & the flooring plant, Allegheny Mountain Hardwood Flooring. We have our own property in Western PA & we manage private landowners properties. We are 100% FSC certified & the first to do so In Pennsylvania through the Rainforest Alliance.

We cut & dry the lumber for our flooring at our own sawmill. This is very important in how well our flooring will perform in your home. We have complete control from the forest to your floor.

FSC is all about Regeneration of the Forest. We are growing more than we harvest and we do it naturally. By rotating the harvest of a property every 10 years or so, and only selecting a few trees when the time is right, we allow for the natural regeneration and the future trees of the forest now...

This was a property Hickman Lumber acquired that had been stripped many years ago. We shut the sawmill down for a week and had everyone planting trees. Typically we allow the forest to naturally regenerate, but in this case there were no trees to start with.
