I've picked cauliflower and now broccoli. I harvested the sweet potatoes. It was a good harvest of 3 varieties...brown, red, and yellow. My favorite is the candied O'Henry.
I harvested 54 butternut squash...Quantum. Potatoes are not as good this year after some great harvests. Cover crop of Tillage radishes [Dakon] after sweet corn look beautiful. I am eating watermelon yet...volunteer Sweet Heart and volunteer Charlene. The Sweet Heart is quite good. Frost predicted Friday night.
We hit a record high temp today, 91F which broke the old record of 87F. Hope that was the last 90 of the season. Cooler temps coming up by the weekend, these fall crops will breath easier. Upper 30's at night next week.
vgkg, those turnips are perfect and beautiful, I'm envious. I have a problem with root maggots which I haven't managed to overcome and they love the turnips, rutabaga, parsnips and radishes. They won't touch beets or carrots.
I'll be planting garlic next week, Friday it is projected to be 28F overnight so that'll finish everything off.
