There's the old story about two friends ordering in a restaurant. The first one orders tongue. Her friend says, "Tongue! That's disgusting! How can you eat something that came out of the mouth of an animal?.... I'll have the eggs."

With all the self-driving vehicles, it's only a matter of time before we get a country song where the guy's truck leaves him too.

My wife just screamed, "You're not listening to me." Don't you think that's a weird way to start a conversation?

Mentally I'm still 25, humor wise I'm 13, but physically I'm pretty sure I fought in the Civil War.

^^^Along the same lines.^^^
Being in your 70's is confusing.
On paper, I'm 71.
In my head, I'm 41.
At a concert, I'm 21.
After 9:00 p.m., I'm 91.
Getting up off the floor, I'm 102.
When someone makes me mad, I'm 2.
But when a 70's song comes on, I'm 18 in a field with a bonfire when I was supposed to be home already!

Would you rather be 70 in the 20's or 20 in the 70's?

Can you imagine the self-control needed if you worked at a bubble-wrap factory.

Been meaning to share this here for awhile - from the New Yorker. I'm sure some can relate... 😄

A 5-year-old girl spent every day watching the construction workers building a house next door. The workers liked her so much that they gave her little jobs and, at the end of the week, paid her $10.
The next day, her mother took her to the bank to open a savings account.
The teller smiled and asked, "And where did you earn this money?"
The little girl proudly replied, "I worked with the construction crew next door."
The teller laughed and asked, "Will you be working there again this week?"
The little girl answered, "I will if those a$$hOl€s at Lowe's ever deliver the f**king sheetrock!"

When I finish eating something I have to show my hands to my dog like I'm a blackjack dealer.

If I were the mother of Colleen Slemmer, knowing that something was being done to prevent another similar tragedy would be more comfort than the execution of the mentally ill person who killed my child.
While I am sure you did not intend it to be, this statement is really disrespectful to Colleens mother. You are NOT her mother and really, have NO IDEA what your reaction would be if this happened to your child. You know how you think she should feel, which is very condescending and cruel. She is the one who had to endure this, and she has been very clear about what she wants to happen to the monster who brutalized her daughter mercilessly. She wants her executed. Her stance has not changed in 30 years. And besides, perhaps she wants both. Actual justice for her murdered daughter AND prevention against it happening to others.
We certainly cannot let her go free, but executing her won't stop the next person with FASD from committing a violent act.
Her sentence is to deliver justice for HER crime, not to deter others or serve any other purpose other than that. Also, I will keep bringing up that even when incarcerated away from society, she still tried to murder someone. So it appears that incarceration cannot prevent a monster from being a monster either. So the greater good would be served by her elimination, as it serves justice AND prevents her from hurting anyone else. Legal ramifications, be it prison time or the death penalty will NEVER serve as a deterrent or preventative measure for people who are just plain bad.
Her crime was not an impulse or a spontaneous fit of uncontrollable rage brought on by some "organic brain disease". It was planned out ahead of time, and carried out according to that plan. I will emphasize that again. THIS WAS A PLANNED MURDER. They lured her to her brutal death.
She has not been diagnosed with FASD. Not every fetus exposed to alcohol in the womb has FASD. PLEASE PLEASE STOP TRYING TO FIND A JUSTIFICATION FOR HER ACTIONS AND A REASON TO STOP JUSTICE FOR THIS POOR VICTIM AND HER FAMILY. And yes, that is what many people here are doing. Her legal team has had a very long time and many appeals to do that on her behalf, they have, and the courts have ruled that she can and should be executed. And guess what? She knew what she was doing was wrong, she has said so herself many many times in an attempt to appear remorseful to have her sentence commuted. So yes, if you take her own words at face value, you can and should hold her fully responsible for her actions. She herself does.

Dearh penalty takes 30 yrs to fulfill.mAppaewos, trials are exceedingly $$$, a huge tx payer burden. If penalty was carried out upon sentencing, that would be so much better. Hence, I wonder why even have it?
