Controls for the shower should be placed by the entrance so that you don’t get wet before you want to. Add a motion sensor soft light to accommodate night time toilet use. In floor heating is a must. A wide heated towel bar.
In my bathroom--redone about 10 years ago--my favorite thing is the beautiful, recessed medicine chest. I think it was Robern and it looks like an arch-topped, beveled mirror. Holds EVERYTHING! A close second are the light fixtures installed on either side of the mirror.
The light is infinitely better than overhead lights.
