bty, I will have to see what spray I can find that can dry on the shirt and doesn't smell..the off one is ok on the clothes, but I haven't tried it to see if it dries and doesn't touch my skin.

Lol Jay I have to say it’s quite comical as wild as these girls get in the middle of the night. Sometimes I’ll get up and turn the light on and they have brought a toy onto the bed so that gets everybody going too. I kind of just roll over and ignore them unless someone jumps on me in a bad spot then I tell them oh my goodness gracious, you kids need to stop! Or take it in the other room and I’ll throw the toy down the hall. I think Gibson tries to bully some of the girls and not let them on the bed because he thinks he’s king here! I’ve heard that females are more territorial and I have quite a few here that show that trait but he shows that as well with me. When I’m walking I can hear him say “I go wherever you go, but I go first“ I guess I’ve gotten used to walking around with them between my legs and under my feet. But I’ll have to be careful as time goes on because I know accidents can happen.

Lia I have the same feeling about toys with strings or feathers or anything that looks like they can pull it off and maybe swallow it? I’ve tugged on a few at the store and most of them seem really stuck in there but I would hate for something like that to get swallowed. I did find some plastic little open ended ball barrel shaped toys that have a little bell inside. They had a feather on them as well, but I cut that off. I have one on the back porch and I can hear it being rolled around. But I really haven’t found a toy that they pay too much attention to. They seem to like things that they’re not supposed to, so I’m like you, I have to keep a lot of things put up, or find out later that I should’ve put something up around here. I just swept the patio of leaves and pecan shells and the kittens were looking at me like I was clearing their playground. But there will be more little twigs and leaves and such that they can play with. The ones out back are just over two months old now so they’re really cute to watch and playing together. Of course I’ve also got the problem of cats doing their business in all my flowerbeds which really irritates me to say the least. There are devices that you can use to keep them out of there but I haven’t gone to that much trouble. I just try to catch them and chase them out.

The last one you posted seems to give you the most walk-through room actually as a straight shot. If there’s anyway you can change that door I would do it for sure, mine opens the way yours does and I curse it every time I use it LOL. You can look at that door you have and you may be able to turn it around opening the other way. It takes a little bit of handy work of a DIY handy man if you got it. This layout also gives you access to that window and opens up the centre of the space even if you added a chair over by the window that gives you four seats.

There's no substitute for trial and error in painting a home. Get large samples and view them in different areas of the house. Keep in mind that colors look lighter on exteriors than they do inside the home. So if you think a color is too dark, it may not be--it may be perfect.

The way a color looks in a photo, on a cloudy day, on a sunny day, on a rainy day, on someone else's home is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is what it looks like on YOUR home.

I would move the console to the right rather than trying to center it.

The ceiling fan on the lower portion looks a bit dated, wondering if the lighting is the best for such a tall room?

You prints get a little lost on that large wall. Consider doing a slatted wood treatment behind the console and extend it to the ceiling. It helps “lose” the opening on second floor and makes the openings and furnishings cohesive.

I think there is actually too much going on. The wall feels busy because of the two openings, the grouping of prints, and the numerous items on the console.

Suggest moving console over a bit to create more balance and add weight and volume to ground the wall/offset the openings and enhance the fireplace. Different proportions will really make a difference…less will be more.

seagrass, I love your float so much and find it amusing that you have this parade to celebrate getting your town back!! I would love to see it in person. I have been to Cape Cod and it is a great place.

Lacey received a gift of Lambchop from a friend. Lambchop isn't very big but then neither is Lacey. I much preferred her teddy bear cut but the hair around her face irritated her eyes so I caved and went full poodle. No more tear stains or beard full of wet food leftovers. I'm still getting used to it but decided her comfort is, of course, paramount.

I go back to Columbus several times a year to visit my family. Living on the outer Cape has it's challenges. September is the sweetest month - we can finally breathe and dogs are allowed on beaches after Labor Day.

The blank portion of the back wall screams for a gorgeous painting. As for the chandelier, it is formal (as is the dining room) but a specific style. If you don’t love it, consider something with less crystals. That would make the room more modern. Your new choice can really change the feel of the room.
