Beverly, if you had just called it "tacky", I might have thought you were just having a bit of fun. ( bridles, saddles, bits = tack ) But since you said "kitschy and tacky", it does just come across as rude and condescending.

Plantation shutters are a good choice for windows such as yours.

Plantation shutters can be angled and work amazingly well. So easy to maintain.

I lived with a “painted” backsplash for over a year in my previous house. You need time to live with samples and see how they look at different times of the day. There are so many great options for a simple, white tile to be interesting but not intrusive (same color grout is the best idea, as Dani said). Tilebar is a good website to browse and get samples from (5 for $5).

I waited a year after remodeling a kitchen, and a lot of other rooms, in my former home. I found my patience was higher when I gave the kitchen - and myself - a break. You can use paint for now and see what new tiles come into the showrooms over the next year.

I have had luck with Tilebar. They send 5 samples for $5 and have a huge inventory of neutrals. Looking at your photos, the one on the right - the creamier one - looks better. I would entertain “light beige” when searching since “ivory” may not get you a creamy color.

I think it looks nice. I would remove the eagle and beef up the porch columns.

I would lighten your trim color and include it on the trim on the roofline. I hae used Ben Moore Boothsbay Gray in the rendering. Keep your door color as a nice contrast to the siding and new trim color. Move the eagle to your portico front. Doing cursive house numbers would fall in the line with the eagle as well. For some wow I would use some thin brick on your porch and steps and if you can continue it down your entire walkway. Plant some spiral topiaries on either side of the railing and plant your beds with the intention of them being mature and larger at year 3-4.

Here’s an idea with new furnishings including some new furniture pieces. I like the poppy painting and would have it reframed for a fresh look. This is just an AI pic but helps give you an idea of how to fill up the space.

As I understand it, the first image in Diana's post above (^^) is an actual photo of the room before changes, with the actual chandelier and its actual position. The second image is an AI drawing of the changes planned for the room, and AI did not correctly render the chandelier as it actually is. OP says the moldings shown in the AI image have been installed and painted, and the art and sconces shown have been ordered. When everything is done, hopefully @cmarsi3 will post an actual photo of the finished room.

It looks pretty good. I do like that it does provide just a bit of texture and pattern without being overwhelming.

I’m going to go against the group here and say that a small shelf and fantastic painting would be just as beautiful. If you have other mirrors in the house and it feels like,”Mirror Overload”, then rethink this entryway. Yes, it’s traditional to have a mirror at the front door, but I didn’t do that. I put up some equestrian artwork and a few feet down I have a small antique table with a lamp.

One color will work better.
