It was obvious during our estimate appointment with Chris, one of the co-owners, that he was extremely knowledgeable and a subject matter expert in his industry. After his visit to our home to provide a free estimate, he sent us an official quote that was clean and professional. I was especially appreciative that Chris was willing to converse via email as my work schedule is such that I'm not often available for personal calls. Horizon worked on the following projects at our home this September 2016: -Laid sod on a steep slope on the front of our house. Each time it rained, we were faced with serious drainage issues. A retaining wall was the ideal solution but not within our budget at the time so we opted for sod. It has transformed the look of our front yard, making it look twice its size. We've received numerous positive comments from the neighbors. It's beautiful! -Mulched the side of our house next to a brick pathway and planted ground cover as there is a slight slope on the side as well. They also cleaned our side pathway which was covered in leaves and plant debris. Additionally, they trimmed trees, vines, and general vegetation overgrowth. Lastly, they laid a brick pathway that serves as a shortcut to allow us to walk from the sidepath of our yard to the front of our yard. What a difference this made! The job is pristine! It's refreshing to see not only all of the debris removed but beautiful ground cover too. -Seeded a vacant circle in our backyard where the former homeowners once had an above-ground pool. The grass is growing quickly and is filling in nicely. The job only took 2 days! Chris provided us with detailed instructions for easy maintenance moving forward. Horizon Outdoor Design made our lives so much easier! I highly recommend their services as you won't be disappointed.”

“We have a stone-covered wall on the front lower half of our 2-story home. The top portion of the center section was tipping out, gradually getting worse over the years. I literally looked for 3+ years to find someone who would even attempt this work and who seemed like they had a clue. Last summer, we found Chris of Ruane Contracting -- his team removed a large section of the wall and reset it, also fixing several other areas that were cracking. They kept to their estimated schedule, did an excellent job cleaning up, and left an absolutely beautiful end-product! I would definitely recommend him for mason work! We are now working on scheduling them to replace a portion of the concrete driveway and fix a few other things. I'm looking forward to completing more projects successfully with Ruane! “I hired a crew to do my large back patio and this is the company Maisel Brothers is who the material came from. Although they did not do the installation I felt it was worth mentioning how professional they were in the delivery. The driver showed up and introduced himself and asked where the patio was being installed. He then went and looked at the job site and asked my permission to drive his fork lift across the yard. He then very carefully strategically laid out the material around the length of the job (about 75') so that material was as close as possible to where it would be needed. He went back and rearranged the material a few times to ensure he had it right. All of this on his own accord, the other crew was not present. At the completion he asked my opinion and listened as I explained what i thought was a misplaced item. He thought for a minute then said "by golly you're right" and moved the items and thanked me for helping. He then covered the items that needed protection and left the site perfect for the install crew. I saw how is care saved the install crew a considerable amount of work they did not need to carry heavy blocks further than a few feet. Great company awesome job.”
