From our slate entry to our new floors to the built-ins in the family room to our granite in the kitchen and bathroom, it all ties together to provide a warm, comfortable home. “I can not recommend KBG Design more! The ideas and knowledge that Katelyn has, for even the smallest projects, never ceases to amaze me. When it comes to putting a personal touch to a space, Katelyn is the best! We are redecorating a room to become a nursery and I wanted something glamorous but not too girly. Katelyn always comes up with something unexpected and encouraged me to look into wallpaper for, at least, one of the walls. I've always been hesitant to use wallpaper but, once I saw the choices she had chosen for me, I ended up doing more than one room! That is just one example, of many, where Katelyn has made my space more special than I could have ever imagined on my own. She is a joy to work with!”

“We hired Hellen Hsieh, the owner of Design Loft Company, to design our 725 sq ft great room addition. We are so incredibly thrilled with the completed project, it is exactly what we had envisioned. Our existing house was a 1200 sq ft 3 bedroom, 2 bath home. The kitchen and living area was very modest. With two teenagers at home, we needed to expand and wanted more room to entertain. When we started the project we were uncertain if we should knock down walls and remodel the current floor plan and add a small addition or keep the footprint of the existing house exactly the same and add on one large great room. We decided to do the later, however, to get to this point, we went through several different renderings. Hellen provided us with many great options and helped us decide what would be the most economical and feasible plan. She was flexible, patient and was great about pointing out the pros and cons of each option. Her interactions with our architect , contractor and cabinet supplier went very smoothly which helped us to meet specific deadlines. Hellen was maticulous when it came to the kitchen cabinets and made sure everything was ordered properly and our custom stain came out exactly how we wanted. As a designer, she is very creative and knowledgeable. She understood the style and feel we were after. More importantly she was very conscious and respectful of our monetary constraints which helped us complete our entire project within budget. What impressed us most was her understanding of the build process: from the contractors needs, the city requirements, realistic costs and time estimates, appliance installation prerequisites and inspection requirements. We couldn't be more pleased with Design Loft and Hellen's professionalism.”

“I hired this company because I needed help on changing the look of one of the rooms of my house. It is the first room you see when you enter the house. He saw what I had in the way of pictures and that there are a lot of Japanese artifacts in the room. What he came up with was a fresher look to go with my newly refinished hardwood floors. He was very professional and we completed the job in time for my company to come in the next week. I highly recommend this company and will use them again if I come up with another project for them to help me with.”

“We worked with Studio Ahead to select furnishing, drapery, art and light fixtures for our new home in Marin County. They came up with furniture floor plans and ways of using pieces that made our home have the designer feel we wanted, yet still felt very specific to who my husband and I are. On top of it we have worked with other interior designers before on previous homes and I have to say the process with Studio Ahead was very smooth. They are on top of purchasing, budgets and timelines which we appreciated after having some poor experiences in the past. Thank you Studio Ahead team! Looking forward to working together on the house in Tahoe.”

インテリアデザイナーと建築士との違いは、建築基準法などの建築に関わる法令で定められた基準を守りながら建築の意匠設計を行うことができるのが建築士であるのに対し、各種法令に反しない範囲で建築の意匠設計の一部である“インテリアデザインのみ”を担当するのがインテリアデザイナーです。そのため、建築士の職能の一部を補助する役割としてインテリアデザイナーが位置づけられることもあります。大学や専門学校でデザインについて学んだ後、家具メーカーや建築会社などで実務経験を積むのが一般的で、インテリアデザイナーを名乗るのに特別な資格は特に必要ありませんが、実際の施工まで手がけられるよう、インテリア設計士資格や建築士免許を取得する人も多いです。
