“I've worked with Laura Reed for almost as long as she has been in business, and she is my go-to artist for faux and decorative finishes. Her eye is impeccable, and her way with clients makes my job easier. Recently she completed two very different projects for me - matching a wood crown to a stone surround directly beneath it, and interpreting a client's desire for victorian-esqe wall paper in a more contemporary way. Needless to say, nobody realizes the crown isn't stone, and the "wall paper" is fantastic, tying the whole project together. Knowing that I can go to Laura with any idea, no matter how crazy, or how different it might be from the last thing we worked on, allows me greater flexibility in what I can design. “When a friend of ours recommended someone she knew to paint a mural on our dining room ceiling, I had no idea a true artist was about to arrive! We wanted a skyscape mostly of clouds and some local birds flying that we were inspired to recreate after visiting a grand estate in Newport, RI! No small feat for sure! Mary Jane impressed us right from the start. The consultation period which consisted of listening to our ideas and then presenting many of her own, lead to a totally collaborative experience. I learned about paint techniques, about perspective and the curing process. We feel that together we created our own masterpiece! お部屋を飾るインテリアとなる作品を作るアーティストや工芸家には、次のような種類があります。
  • 画家：絵画制作の専門家。広義ではイラストレーターやグラフィックデザイナーも含まれます。一般的に、画家が自らの創作意欲に基づいて自分の描きたいテーマで作品を仕上げて絵画を販売するのに比べ、イラストレーターやグラフィックデザイナーはクライアントからの依頼に基づいて作品を作るところが大きな違いです。
  • 版画家：版画で作品を表現するアーティスト。版画は、木、金属、石などの面に像を描き、その上にインクなどを塗って紙に転写して絵画を作成する方法で、木版画、銅版画、リトグラフ（石版画）など色々な種類があります。
  • 工芸家：実用品に芸術的な手を加えた作品をつくる専門家。「クラフトデザイナー」とも呼ばれます。扱う素材により、木工工芸家、ガラス工芸家、染色工芸家などさまざまな種類があります。陶芸家や彫刻家も広義では工芸家と言えます。
  • 陶芸家：粘土を整形し窯で焼いて陶磁器などをつくる専門家。「陶工」とも呼ばれます。
  • 彫刻家：素材を彫り込んで立体作品、オブジェなどをつくる専門家。

アートの作家本人が作品を販売するケースもありますが、有名なアーティストになると、美術品を扱う専門家が仲介することがほとんどです。
  • 美術商：アーティストから作品を仕入れて販売する専門家。「アートディーラー」とも呼ばれます。
  • 画商：美術商の中でも、特に絵画を扱う専門家。作品を展示するスペースをもつ場合は、「画廊」や「ギャラリー」と呼ばれます。
  • 古美術商：美術商の中でも、特に古い時代の作品、いわゆる骨董品・アンティークを扱う専門家。

クリエーター本人が自分の作品を販売する場合は、特定商取引法に注意する必要があります。
