I hired Ritu to decorate my apartment in a way that would inspire me in my academic work and make me less lonely in a new town. She made my small apartment seem larger by making each area -- the living room, the den, and the bedroom -- into its own thematic space, to suit a particular mood. In the living room, she chose bright colors and varied furnishings, inspired by my favorite colors, red and orange. She found astronomical prints that I had admired as a child to hang on the wall. In the den, she chose a softer, muted palette, turning that space into a contemplative zone where I can work on my research papers.
