“Without any knowledge of this company other than online information,I tasked Karen to look at development possibilities for my 200 year old cottage. I did not want to move house though the cottage was just too small for my extending family. The resultant design that was approved by the local authority exceeded my wildest dreams and I solely put this down to Karen and her team's design talent and total perseverance. We really are indebted to her for what she achieved. I cannot thank Karen enough. She is also highly professional, focussed and very disciplined in terms of timescales and meeting deadlines. “Coogan Architects have been fantastic throughout the design process and we really couldn't have achieved the space we have without them. Laura has communicated extensively despite our build being split into two phases (second part still to be completed). Her patience and professional advice both in person and over the phone has been astounding over the last two years. We asked for dormers to be added to a semi-detached bungalow and a single story rear extension. The total extended floor space being approx. 72 sq metres. The contemporary and minimal design produced including eternit panelling, zinc and cedar cladding lifts their work away from residential and suburban to magazine chic. The space created upstairs is outstanding and difficult to believe was achieved from the eaves (2 large bedrooms and bathroom). We are eagerly awaiting the downstairs work to start (AGM Contracts, Paisley) in order that we can fully appreciate all the effort that has been put in! I would absolutely recommend Barry and Laura to anyone!”

“Mr Clark was recommended to us by our Builder when we decided that we wanted a large extension built. After meeting with Mr Clark we were happy to employ him as our Architect for our project. He is clearly an experienced Architect and provided us with suggestions and ideas throughout the process of having the plans drawn up. Mr Clark is very approachable and listened very carefully to what we wanted to have included in our extension. He was able to put our thoughts and ideas into the drawings which made us feel part of the process. Any issues with the drawings were very quickly and professionally dealt with by Mr Clark. We were also very grateful to him for overseeing the administration side with the Planning Department and working closely with our Builder and Structural Engineer. He contacted us regularly to give us updates on the drawings and the planning process. We thought that his professional fees were extremely good value and would have no reservation in recommending Mr Clark as an Architect.”

“NVDC are a very professional and accomplished architect's practice whom I have hired on a number of different projects, ranging from the high end refurbishment of a property in Glasgow in 2009, a complete house refurbishment in Wimbledon in 2012 which involved structural changes and more recently an ongoing project involving the design of a rear two storey extension to my house. Their attention to detail, creativity and ability to interpret from a rough sketch of what we were trying to achieve to a full set of architectural plans has been very impressive. NVDC have always exceeded my expectations and also assume responsibility for resolving many of the complications involving planning regulations, structural engineering and the builders you choose to realise your project. I am certain that without the guidance and services of NVDC, our projects would not been as successful in coming to life as they have been. Thanks!”

建築家とは、建築物（住宅）やその周りの空間（外構）を、法律を遵守した形で設計する専門家です。建築物の外観、内部構造、機能性、美学を考慮し、クライアントの要望を実現します。また、実際に工事がはじまると、図面どおりに建築されているかなど、施工の監督管理も行います。
建築士は国家資格で、建築士試験に合格して登録した人が名乗ることができます。一級建築士、二級建築士、木造建築士の3種類があります。一方、建築家は特に資格はなく、「建築や設計に携わっている人」として自称できます。
建築家の料金はプロジェクトの規模や複雑さによって異なります。通常、建設予算の一定の割合（通常は10〜20％）が建築家の料金として考えられます。
プロジェクトの規模や複雑さにより異なりますが、一般的には数週間から数ヶ月かかります。複雑なプロジェクトはさらに時間がかかることがあります。
設計変更は可能ですが、タイミングや変更の内容によって追加料金が発生することがあります。変更が計画初期に行われることが理想的です。

「建築家」と「建築士」は別の意味として区別されることが多いようです。では、その違いは何でしょう？
