“Collaborating with the Freeform team has been a great experience and we are thrilled with the end result. We contacted the Freeform team after receiving a referral to them from a friend. Carlos and the Freeform team did a great job in gathering as much input from us about how we lived, how we would like our new home to facilitate living that our current home didn’t, and even went into great detail about how we used our kitchen, closets, and more. We received great guidance throughout the process and always felt that we could voice our opinions and desires while also getting good feedback about where we could change or approach things differently that we envisioned so that the resulting home was better. We were offered design options, which we re-iterated on a few times until we landed on a final option that combined the best of everything we were presented with. Similarly, we were presented with permitting strategies and during construction we always felt we received options with enough information so that we could make informed decisions. The only critique we have was that the construction took a bit longer than we anticipated, but the impact of this delay was minimized since we knew well ahead of time where we stood with regard to our schedule/timeline. This allowed us to plan for the extra 2 months of construction. Overall, we’re thoroughly pleased with the interior renovation and our new home.”

“We were terrified to finally remodel. Now we're halfway through the job, and I'm wondering how it could possibly be going so well? The answer: Lorin Hill, Architect, and his team. Ours is not a small job - we've excavated a basement; moved the kitchen, downstairs powder room, laundry room (which went from 1st to 2nd floor); and moved a lot of walls and reconfigured closets to dramatically improve our space. We didn't know where to bookend the project, and could see endless options for how to improve our home. We interviewed multiple architects - familiar names that had signs up on the best streets. It was immediately clear that Lorin was the architect for us - he took in the important character of the home (and setting/land, neighboring homes, and street), he saw how we could shape the project to make the most of our resources and opportunities, and his communication style was unmatched by larger and smaller specialty firms alike. He's insightful, funny, has decades of experience in his craft, and (this is where Lorin really hits it out of the park) his design eye is so excellent that he is saving us from hiring a host of other professionals to make our finished result truly sing. In some ways I'd love to keep Lorin Hill our little secret - I can count on only one hand the service providers that so exceed my expectations that their fees don't seem high enough for what they provide (note the design comment above, and he's smoothed enough husband/wife remodel debates - helping us each see logic - that we'll happily enjoy our home for years to come, marriage intact). If you're lucky enough to find Lorin Hill with a space in his schedule that fits your project, grab it. If we ever win the lottery and have unlimited funds, we'll be back to take up all the rest of Lorin's time.”

“We were in a unique situation - an opportunity to do some remodeling after a house fire. With the insurance budget parameters, we were still hopeful we could make some beautiful improvements to our home. Lincoln was the perfect person to partner with. He helped us envision simple, creative and impactful changes to our home that included opening our dining room up so that the best view in the house (from a kitchen window) was visible from the living and dining rooms. He listened to our wish to host larger dinner parties and created a movable ceiling light, so it can always be centrally positioned regardless of how long our dining room table might be. He worked with our more conservative contractor and helped advocate for our ideas, finding modern, sleek textiles and cabinetry that immediately increased the value of our home. A back hallway became a pantry; a small closet in the bedroom was expanded to become a little walk-in closet. We built in a post-modern ladder to the attic, an interior wall window to bring more light into the bedroom and many other details we wouldn't have thought about. Lincoln's vision and experience elevated our home and it turned a disaster (fire) into a huge opportunity! I highly recommend collaborating with Lincoln on your next project, big or small.”

“Leigha Heydt was our second architect hired for our project. The first didn't work out due to lack of understanding each others goals and budget. Leigha was a breath of fresh air in every way. She took out the intimidation factor in our first remodel experience. We immediately loved her straight forward honest approach and her knowledge of building a home (she has contractor experience). She was quick at assesing our needs and got straight to work on our plans. The plans were extremely professional with meticulous details that made every process after (finding contractors, engineers, etc and getting town approval) a breeze. Leigha understood us and always steered us in a realistic direction to keep to our goal. She has a very keen eye for use of space and pleasing design... that is timeless and functional. I can not say enough about Leigha, she is very talented, a great architect. Our entire house was dated with a small, closed in kitchen and no master bedroom. Our house is absolutely fantastic now with an open big kitchen, amazing master suite and a beautiful flow throughout. We chose a more modern style that is very family friendly. Leigha was right there with every resource - websites, places to find every last detail needed in our home. Again, I can't say enough- she's an amazing architect and communicator, she's thorough, always on time, wealth of resources and the calm in what could be an overwhelming experience. She's the best!”

“I just completed a complete remodel of my San Francisco Edwardian flat and build out my basement. Joanne and her staff did a fantastic job. It started out as a kitchen bath remodel, but once the design process started expanded to include every room as we discussed how different spaces would be used and what I didn't like about the current space after living with it for 20yrs. Might as well do it right! Joanne's attention to detail, listening, and high ethical standards are unmatched. She would listen in the meetings and ask questions then come back with some ideas and sketches to get my reaction. She knew what I wanted without me even knowing it. “We transformed our kitchen and put a major 3 story addition with a roof deck at the back of our Victorian House in the Haight. Andy was the Architect and was able to take a very challenging existing kitchen with a narrow floor plan, with many jogs and angles and create a very cohesive design. The inherent narrowness and angles of the space were turned around and actually made design features of the space. With very little wall changes, Andy was able to redesign the Kitchen Cabinets and reconfigure the sink and appliances to create an entirely new look. The lighting, soffits and cabinet details were all well thought out and blend seamlessly with the existing house. The major 3 story addition also proved challenging. Andy's thorough knowledge of the San Francisco Planning Code allowed us to attain a rear yard variance. The addition was very well detailed, extensive waterproofing details were included for the exterior flashing and for the roof deck. We were able to achieve all our goals, and then some with Andy as our Architect. We highly recommend him. ”
