Albee Interior Design

Working with Albee Interior Design on this project was a joy! Our project was particularly unusual, and their extensive knowledge of unique products was invaluable in creating just what we wanted for our Steampunk Speakeasy bar design. They were also meticulous in their planning, ensuring that the project proceeded smoothly from design through execution. One element of note was the metal ceiling. We knew we wanted something that looked like a riveted patchwork of metal, something like a vintage airplane. They were able to work with our contractors to come up with an entirely new application, and also created a beautiful design for the overlapping patchwork of metal panels. The galvanized steel panels were hand sanded with a fine grade of sandpaper, then hand buffed with steel wool to create a cloudlike sheen. Being steel, we were able to place working magnetic cogs and gears on the ceiling for an ever changing, interactive steampunk installation. In 2020, only about 3.2% of carpenters in the US were women, so we were excited that the lead carpenter for our project represented that small but mighty segment. She hammered in 588 upholstery nails to replicate the rivets in our ceiling, and joked about being Rosie the Riveter! We found some amazing MCM design barstools on Houzz that perfectly married our new bar with the rest of the lounge area of our 1963 home. We couldn't be more pleased with the final results of our project with Albee Interior Design! Remodeling projects can be quite stressful, and if you have ever done it, you know that is an understatement. Wendy and Cathy, the incredible team that make up Albee Interior Design, worked tirelessly to guide us through our whole house remodel project. They stayed on budget, and were always very timely in their responsiveness to our needs. Their years of experience saved us a lot of time, money, and headaches. They began by offering us several different floor plan options, and walked us through the benefits of each choice. My husband and I, like many couples, have very different taste, and Wendy and Cathy helped us to coordinate all of the design choices for style, color, materials, and functionality from among the billions of options at the design centers they introduced us to. Their professionalism in working with the contractors we hired was admirable. Cathy and Wendy stayed focused on the project, kept a sense of humor and adventure alive through frustrating situations, and always found a workable solution to each challenge that popped up. They always kept a positive attitude, which helped so much. I admire the way that Cathy and Wendy interact with each other. Their communication is always open and honest. They are two individuals who respect the strengths each other brings to the process. They have different ways of looking at things, and I felt great benefit from being included in the open conversations regarding different options and priorities. What I am trying to say is that you get a lot of bang for your buck with Albee Interior Design. I have always felt I made the right choice and was very lucky to work with them. We are quite happy with the beautiful results and know that we will enjoy our new home, and the way it suits us both, for many years to come.

I'm a real estate broker, and met Wendy when she she designed my client's full-home remodel. I was very impressed with the finished product, to say the least. Not long after meeting her, my husband and I downsized into a condo that needed a full renovation, so we contacted Wendy. And we are so glad we did! First, Wendy introduced us to her favorite contractor, who also rocked our world. And then we all got to work on the design. Wendy and Cathy helped us with literally everything: finish selection, CAD drawings, resources, etc. She was always open to when we didn't like something, and helped us think outside the box on more than one occasion. We'll forever be grateful in her suggesting we raise the entryway in two rooms - never would have thought of that on our own. Things we especially love: * the communication is EXCELLENT. In my line of work, it is a full-time job chasing down contractors and service providers. I did NOT have to do that with Wendy and Cathy. * She doesn't have a strong ego and really wants you to be happy with the finished product. I've met many designers over the years and god forbid you don't agree with them. Wendy pulls none of that. * She's a genuinely nice person. Wendy has a wonderful eye for color and complementary design. She designed a new mother-in-law apartment in our basement wall-to-wall. She is very organized and meticulate, providing good organized printouts of design options with requirements specs on time, and is always fast to respond to any questions or alteration requests. A complete house design has a LOT of parts and we are always confident that Wendy knows where everything is and what's happening. Wish we did!

I received a recommendation to use Albee Interior Design from my sister-in-law. Wendy and her staff redesigned her kitchen and it was beautiful! I had been wanting to do something with mine, so I contacted Wendy to see what advice she could give. We met early in the process where she listened to my wants and needs, and offered suggestions based on those ideas. She brought Cathy in, who also offered very sound input and between the two of them, created the kitchen of my dreams! Wendy offered a recommendation for a contractor to carry out the remodel, and my husband and I couldn't be happier with the results! Building a custom a home is a daunting experience. We hired Wendy Albee to assist us with all of our design needs. We chose Wendy after meeting with her and reviewing her portfolio of work. It was clear that she worked with the client to determine their taste instead of imposing her preferences. She worked with us to optimize the layout of bathrooms, determine cabinetry layout and style, select window and door trim. She also helped us select tile, all flooring, lighting fixtures, paint colors, granite, plumbing fixtures, bathroom fixtures, appliances. window coverings, furniture, and more. Wendy had a wide network of vendors to work with who all provided excellent service at reasonable prices. She also worked very well with our builder and stayed in constant contact with him to optimize the implementation of the design. She was a joy to work with making a stressful process fun. We couldn't have done it without her!

Wende Albee did a work of art in my kitchen. She transformed a very outdated kitchen and dining room into a kitchen/Living area that anyone would love to have in their home. Our friends marvel at how it's totally changed our dining/kitchen area to an open, inviting space with such a great design. Wende listened to my ideas and worked with me in getting just the right look and feel that I wanted. She definitely has an infinite amount of patience and her vision and guidance kept me focused on fulfilling the vision that I had, and staying within the costs that we discussed prior to starting the remodel. Wende is definitely an expert in her field and I highly recommend her. I have five stars to pick from but I give her a 10!
