Nordic Living by Biehl

We opened Nordic Living by Biehl in 2018, in the heart of the city’s stylish Bruntsfield neighbourhood. Having moved from Copenhagen earlier that summer, we wanted to bring true Nordic style to Edinburgh – beautiful Danish furniture from renowned designers alongside lifestyle and interior accessories from newer brands. We’ve created a welcoming, friendly and truly inspiring showroom where we invite our customers to browse and shop. At Nordic Living by Biehl, we believe in: Sustainability - We sell furniture and homewares that are built to last for generations. We source our products from brands who use sustainable manufacturing processes and respect the raw materials they work with. We consider our furniture to be investments; timeless silhouettes that get better with age and are often passed down as heirlooms to be kept and cherished. Craftsmanship - We believe that expert craftsmanship needs to be experienced to be appreciated. The furniture brands we represent still manufacture with the same values and quality as when they were originally established. Durability is built into every design through unique finishes and delicate details, properly sourced and selected materials, and finished with expert upholstery in natural textiles such as sheepskin and leather. Many of our homewares and textiles are also crafted using traditional techniques and are often finished by hand. Authenticity - We offer authentic Danish design from iconic brands and designers. Denmark has a long history of quality design, focusing on functionalism and simplicity. Many of our designs, like the PH-Lamp and Finn Juhl ‘Chieftain Chair’, are considered international cultural icons and were catalysts to changing attitudes towards furniture design in the 50s & 60s. Although wood and textile colour choices have changed with the times, the craftsmanship and design has stayed true to the original aesthetic.
