After years of designing and renovating homes alongside some of the best in the industry, Emily Pueringer Design Studio was founded with a mission of bringing a whole new aesthetic to the world of interior design. Located in Stillwater and the idyllic Marine on St. Croix, the studio happily serves clients across the region as well as nationally (both in-person and via virtual visits). From the beginning, Emily has always been inspired by contrasting elements. Whether it’s a modern design aesthetic enriched by colorful elements, or a classic setting flooded with eclectic art, these are Emily’s calling cards. The art-lover finds the beauty in everything from industrial to natural elements and works to find the perfect balance of it all that speaks directly to her client’s taste. Emily started her design career long before she ever began training with the masters. Building elaborate forts and rearranging furniture in her parent’s custom-built homes as a child, a love for design and architecture was instilled early. Living in Costa Rica for a few of those years led to a life-long love affair with bold and rich colors. She always knew she’d someday find herself happily reconstructing rooms for others – creating the perfect breakfast nook to ensure a family would linger over brunch just a bit longer; or finding just the right placement for a bay window to maximize the view; or laying out tile in new and noteworthy designs that refuse to be ignored. There's something to be said for helping reconstruct a space from start to finish, keeping clients stress-free, and helping them see their visions come to life. This is what Emily does naturally. My husband and I worked with Emily on our primary bath as well as a guest bathroom remodel. Emily is lovely to work with, she is extremely knowledgeable of her craft and did an incredible job of working with us to understand our needs and preferences, while staying true to her aesthetic and overall vision. Emily was a massive support to us - she always made herself available and guided us through the many decisions we had to make throughout this process. The end result is truly stunning - every day we are so appreciative of the overall look, feel, and finishings.

We feel lucky to have been able to work with Emily Pueringer Design for a kitchen and family room renovation in our 1970s house. We intend for this to be our forever house, and wanted a timeless look with a floor plan that prioritizes function. While it must be easier to work with more hands-off clients, my wife and I are both very opinionated and involved ourselves in the details. Emily handled this with grace, incorporating our vision even when we weren’t good at articulating it. It was easy to trust Emily’s taste and design choices. She adapted to our varying budget for different aspects of the project with great solutions. We especially appreciate Emily’s attention to detail in craftsmanship, for example talking the tiler through mitering the edge pieces, as well as offering to have difficult conversations with a subcontractor when quality wasn’t up to her standard. This all resulted in a finished space that we love both in use and aesthetic. We are still in awe every time we come home and will continue to be for years to come. We highly recommend Emily Pueringer Design.

We worked with Emily on a kitchen remodel for our 1914 home. We asked her to design a kitchen that flowed seamlessly with the rest of our old home and that worked within the footprint of the existing kitchen (not easy with its square footage, L-shape, 3 doorways and a stairway). We also asked for a practical, warm space, inspired by natural elements and that incorporated texture and playful color. On top of that, we love to cook and bake and wanted a very functional kitchen, both with more counterspace and an orientation that would allow socializing in a light-filled environment that is connected to our back patio/yard space. Emily definitely delivered! We trusted her design and ran with it. She was a great partner to work with throughout the design and build process. Emily was a great help in making selections, finding alternatives and adapting during the build. She also made sure that all of the finishing touches were completed just right. She is great to work with and is very responsive. We appreciated her flexibility throughout the process. We are young professionals and this was our first major home remodeling project on our first home; finding a designer we trusted with the process was daunting. We are so happy we found Emily. We highly recommend!

After first discovering Emily on Houzz, I recently had the opportunity to work with Emily on the design of our home. We hired her at the beginning stages of the home build, even before we had chosen an architect! I can't say enough good things about working with Emily and her team. She was so easy to work with and thanks to her, the home building process has been as smooth as I can imagine. I don't have to worry about little details that would overwhelm and make the process a chore. Emily also took into consideration our budget and preferred design styles. I really feel like she nailed it on all accounts! She also wasn't afraid to advocate for us to the architect or the builder if she felt like they were not capturing what we wanted or envisioned for our home. If you have the opportunity to work with Emily I would jump at the chance!

We couldn't be more pleased with our kitchen remodel! Emily did an amazing job choosing the materials for the project. She seemed to have an intuitive sense for what we would like and what colors and textures would fit into the style of our 1970's home. Having Emily give recommendations for the materials (flooring, countertop, cabinets, sink, paint, lighting, etc) took a load of my mind, and gave me the confidence I needed to move forward, knowing it would all look fantastic together! When we ran into a snag installing the tile backsplash, Emily was on the spot ready to refer us to an expert tile guy who did a beautiful job on the intricate herring-bone tile. I also appreciated her availability and quick responses to my emails and questions as we completed our project. It's so much fun having a fully functioning kitchen again, and one that is beautiful, modern and lovely to entertain friends and family. Thank you Emily!

Emily has been a joy to work with. She took our ideas and visions and put them into an easy to follow detailed plan. The final result is even better than we imagined with her ideas flowing together to make a stylish and modern bathroom. She was helpful in sourcing beautiful tile, cabinets, lighting and plumbing fixtures with her many connections in the design industry. We highly recommend Emily for any project.

Working with Emily has been an absolute joy. She is professional, creative, very calm and super flexible. She really understood the project from the beginning and offered beautiful design ideas. When we had to pivot for either design or cost reasons, she always had great alternative solutions to present. She was always thoughtful about changes that I requested and offered her true opinions, which was super helpful to me. Our project is so beautiful, functional and perfect for our house because of Emily's thoughtful and considerate design, I would recommend her for any design protect!

We have worked with Emily Pueringer on multiple design projects over the last 6 years and give her the highest of recommendations! To serve us better, she visited with us about what types of styles we liked and didn’t like. She also came to our existing home to see our color scheme, furniture, and style to learn more about us as her customer. For our new construction home, Emily helped us with tile design for the kitchen, multiple bathrooms, entry and bathroom flooring and fireplace. Emily also helped with interior and exterior paint selections. In addition, she provided feedback on other design choices (i.e. flooring, granite) we were making to ensure a beautiful overall look. Most recently, we worked with Emily to remodel the kitchen and family room area of our condo unit. Emily helped us pick out flooring, countertop, back splash, sink/faucet, and lighting. She has also designed a bathroom remodel for our condo unit that we will remodel in a few years. Everyone that visits our home or condo unit comments on the beautiful colors and style. We have recommended Emily to family members and friends. One of Emily’s many strengths is that she not only brings to the table extensive design experience but also experience with tile, plumbing, new construction, and remodeling. With her experiences, she is exceptional at helping the customer tie everything together to meet their needs. Emily has taken a team approach with us as her customer by listening to our vision for our projects and adding her professional opinion and expertise which ultimately guided us to the best decision/outcome for our projects. We very much appreciated her honest feedback as we love the results!

If you want to find a designer who immediately listens to you, understands what you want and delivers with perfection, Emily is the one. From the minute we hired her, she instantly made us feel like our project was no longer just ours, but hers. Right away everything was in her hands yet she knows how to perfectly balance the control, giving her clients the ability to share their opinions with her expert guidance. She is personable, professional, meticulous with details and at times I really felt like she was reading our minds. Her eye for style and balance and her precision is truly remarkable. Our remodel project seemed very overwhelming at first but once Emily was involved, everything just immediately started to click into place. She knows how to listen, quickly understand your vision and smoothly make it come to life. With all of the micro-decisions and moving parts, Emily takes it all on and makes it seem effortless. All of our partners- contractors, installers, retailers, distributors have commented that she is the most skilled designer they have ever worked with and I could not agree more. On top of that, She is kind, so easy to work with and just a joy all around. Hiring Emily is the best decision I could have made and she has made our dream home come to life in front of our eyes. Building a house is one of the most exciting, stressful, costly and memorable things one can do in a lifetime. Picking your designer is your first crucial decision. Emily makes the process incredibly pleasurable. She has the education and experience to make her great. However, it is her natural ability to see beauty that makes her exceptional. Emily has this incredible ability to help you see the vision which is hard for us first timers or novices out there. Emily takes your idea and stratifies it. She pushes you just enough so you take comfortable risks and gently steers you from regrettable mistakes. She is remarkable. One of the most important elements Emily brings is advocacy. During my build when we ran into problems, my builders/contractors would occasionally push me into solutions that were easiest or cheapest for them. Emily would not allow it. She would rectify the issue and provide solutions that we all agreed on and most importantly I was happy with. This makes her worth her weight in gold. Emily has everything you want and need in a designer. She is experienced, talented, diversified, organized, professional and truly a joy. You will have hundreds of decisions when building a home, Emily should be your first.
