Jennifer Joy Mattis is a breath of fresh air. After becoming an empty nester a year ago, my husband and I purchased a newly constructed home. We were intent on donating our old furniture and starting anew. Having collaborated with designers over the years, I was familiar with the design process. We spoke to Jennifer on the phone and described our goals. She made an appointment to come to our home. I will never forget her first visit - her firm handshake and bubbly, positive personality. She explained that she needed to 'take in' each room and then, at the end, would ask us questions and share her initial impressions. As she moved from room to room, deep in thought, we followed her in silence, wondering what thoughts were running around in her mind. When she finally shared her insights, it was evident that she was meticulous, passionate about color and texture, creative in her design, and genuinely interested in helping her clients create the home of their dreams. She was confident in her ability, but not arrogant in her approach. She offered firm opinions but was flexible in approach. Her high energy was contagious and so refreshing. We have since furnished our entire first floor with her recommendations and are thrilled with the outcome. She is helping us with final details for the first floor (art, lighting) while simultaneously designing the upstairs bedrooms. She has proven to be dependable, trustworthy, honest in her assessments and a sheer pleasure to work with. She does not take offense and has a wonderful sense of humor. (After recommending table lamps, I had to break the news to her that I was not a fan of them. Of course, this has not stopped her from recommending table lamps when necessary - but when she does, we both have fun chuckling about it.) Jennifer has impressive vision and a noticeable gift for design. It is such a delight working with her!

Her keen eye for color, design and interior decorating was of great assistance in our selecting exactly the right colors, styles and fabric for our new furniture. Joe & I were lucky to have met Jennifer at an open house 3 yrs ago. She is very energetic & enthusiastic about decorating homes and rooms with style. We picked up her brochure and tucked it away for future use. We had a new home built in 2020. Joe & I were looking forward to learning how to coordinate a "Great Room" area with an open floor plan. Coming from the north this was a new concept for me so we gladly left our New England style furniture back home with our children- who were happy to have it. We were ready to furnish our new home with new a new style. Joe & I thought this would be an easy task with all of the various furniture stores in this general area. However, things changed with the pandemic and most stores were closed. The few ideas we had did not work out. Talking to a friend who had just purchased some items through Jennifer reminded me of the brochure I had. It turned out that our builder also highly recommended her. So we contacted Jennifer and talked about what we needed--almost everything! Jennifer was super in accomplishing the look we wanted paying attention to detail. She helped to coordinate the Great room with the colors I liked to make a comfortable style for our new home. She always made sure we were happy with our selections and showed us many options. She was always available-even on move in day! We were very impressed with her design ideas. She made the process exciting & is extremely talented! We were lucky to her!

Recently, my husband and I worked with Jennifer from Ethan Allen on designing furniture for our new open floor plan house. Working with Jennifer was an amazing experience. She was willing to collaborate on design concepts that met our functional and aesthetic needs. Using measurements from our house, she generated 3D rendering of our design selections. Jennifer has an exceptional sense for colors, textures, and space utilization. She had descriptions for design concepts like, stunning, snappy and smashing. Just like us, she would get excited as the quality of our interior design improved. She shared the same passion for high design standards as we did. Her upbeat personality made the experience fun and memorable. Now, we call our house our home.

Jennifer Mattis is a fabulous designer. She worked with us on a new build. She came to our current home and was able to quickly assess our style, color palette and our taste. She worked quickly to come up with some terrific ideas specific to each room we were focused on. Jennifer had great ideas on furniture selection as well as items to add to ambience. I was searching for a buffet at Ethan Allen and was interested in a particular one that had been discontinued. Jennifer called me and did a great job in listening to my concerns and helped me pick out one that fit my space perfectly! This was during the COVID-19 crisis, so we conducted everything via email, text, and phone conversations. Jennifer really listened to what I was trying to achieve, and was not offended when I did not care for a particular idea, and easily changed gears to create a space I truly loved. She also gave me great advice on how to change up some family wall art to create a better balance. I will definitely seek out a Jennifer for any future remodeling!

I have worked with Jennifer at Ethan Allen and she has been a joy to work with. She is a very talented designer with a great eye and helped me considerably in choosing a variety of furniture for a master bedroom remodel. She is professional, talented and personable. Jennifer Mattis at Ethan Allen in Wilmington is an extremely talented designer! She excels in her attention to every detail and high level of expertise in all aspects of interior design.
