I have had the very good fortune to have engaged SHL Construction, led by Leo Hubin to undertake a gut renovation and build out of an upper duplex of our family brownstone in Park Slope. We met SHL through our architect and after getting some other proposals, hired them. SHL realized our architect’s vision to the height of perfection. Their attention to detail began with ensuring a very solidly constructed, well insulated and squeak free infrastructure. At every step of construction SHL worked without compromise to quality, even though most of this excellent work would be hidden in the walls and under the floor. Leo knows no other way. It is a tribute to Leo that every one of his workers and subs showed a dedication to quality that reflected Leo’s standard - always giving that extra effort to get it right. Below is a list of some of what makes SHL a very special contractor. •Meticulously follows the plans. When there is field conflict they consult with the architect, rather than making that decision on the fly. Owner’s requests were always followed up on and honored. •Very meticulous about protection of all areas that are not undergoing rehab and ensure the job site is cleaned daily. •Workers were on site every single day during the entire eight plus months of the project. There was never a down day. •Infrastructure build included customized reinforcing and other structural redundancies of studding and flooring. Nothing was installed without the ever present laser level and plumb line. •Very respectful of his crew who knew their jobs and were able to work without close supervision. Every member of his crew and all of the subs worked to the highest level of quality. •Stored materials and appliances ordered in advance at SHL warehouse and were only brought to the site on the day needed. •Did not ask for change orders for every minor variance or addition. •The job was completed on time. •Leo himself runs the job and coordinates the various trades as needed. In addition, there is always a knowledgeable site super on the job. In short there are only positives I can say about working with SHL. Suffice it to say that there was no need for a punch list. How about that!

SHL did a full townhouse renovation for us in 2022. Leo and his team were absolutely amazing and a pleasure to work with. Their work is really high quality - and Leo has a great eye for detail. My husband is an architect and pretty picky - and even he loved working with SHL! They were reasonably priced and finished on time. You don't hear this in New York very often, but we loved working with SHL and would recommend them to anybody looking for a great GC!

Leo and the SHL Builders team worked on our 2bath, kitchen and laundry renovation project. It was really great to work with them. They are very professional, responsive, reliable and able to adapt to our requests along the way. We are very glad they executed the project in a clean, sturdy and timely manner. We love our new home even more thanks to to them. We definitely recommend SHL Builders and would work with them again without hesitation.

Leo and his team at SHL builders were a pleasure to work with on our first renovation project. They helped us turn one bathroom we didn't like into two we love and were patient and considerate in answering all of our questions and helping us troubleshoot. working w Leo and his team was an incredible experience. he promised completion of a two bath + partial kitchen renovation in 4 weeks and was 95% complete by the 4 week deadline. the other 5% was the result of Covid related delivery of missing parts from a 3rd party. these guys are the best!!

I've worked with SHL builders to remodel my Brooklyn condo and had a great experience from start to finish. Throughout the process they had taken the time to explain to me what and why they were doing things so I was always comfortable with what's going on. Their professionalism, problem solving attitude and attention to detail is top notch and you can tell they are really trying to build long term relationships rather than nickel and diming you. Also they have good relationships with suppliers so I was able to find great products and materials within my budget. We are extremely happy with the final product and recommend their services to everyone.

Leo and his crew did an incredible job renovating the kitchen and bathrooms in my home in Brooklyn. Their professionalism and perfectionism exceeded my expectations and the end result is gorgeous. They were a pleasure to work with and it was a completely stress free experience. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Leo and his crew are absolute professionals, they came highly recommended by our interior designer Studio Nato and they were the ideal contractors to have on our renovation. Everything that was planned on paper was executed to perfection. We hired them to renovate our outdated apartment which covered kitchen, bathroom and dining, we didn’t have a huge budget to work with, but they were more than willing to work with us and helped recommend ways to cut costs. Throughout the process they were honest and upfront about any issue that arose and were very quick to resolve them, without any surprise change orders. The attention to deal was beautiful and delivered above and beyond what was required. In addition, we live in a co-op building that is pretty uptight about cleanliness and work hours and to our surprise, we even got rave review from our neighbors while we were away, saying that our contractors were respectful, professional and overall great people. I can’t say enough good things about the work they have done and would not hesitate to hire them again in the future.

As an interior design and architecture firm, we have worked on several projects with SHL Builders ranging from large scale town house renovations to smaller projects including kitchen and bath renovations. Throughout our experience with them, we continue to value their strong attention to detail, reliability and professionalism. Leo is always responsive and communicative which facilitates the construction process immensely. His estimates are detailed and clear. Countless times, they have gone above and beyond what was required or asked of them in order to ensure projects are complete and look good and clients are happy. SHL Builders renovated our brownstone and did an absolutely amazing job. SHL workers are true craftsmen and did impeccable work throughout the house. Unlike the contractors who the previous owners of our place hired, they did not try to cut corners. Instead, it's clear that SHL did high-quality work with incredible care and attention to detail. Since we were living in our house for part of the renovation, we also got to know some of the workers, whom I've come to trust and really admire for their kindness, talent, and pride they take in their work (our dogs LOVE them too!). We also never received any complaints from our tenant or the neighbors, probably because they always cleaned up after themselves and kept things immaculate. Leo, the co-owner, is one of the most honest, reliable and hard-working contractors out there. He was extremely attentive throughout the renovation process, going above and beyond responding to late-night text messages and showing up at our place first thing in the morning if we ever needed to trouble shoot. Leo's fees are totally reasonable and the bills are transparent -- never containing anything we hadn't agreed on or discussed. Leo even actively identified ways to save us money, which was pretty amazing. And even as we are wrapping up our project, I still feel that we're a priority for Leo. Unlike a lot of contractors I've heard about, he didn't just disappear at the end. We feel beyond fortunate to have found SHL Builders and are so thankful that they helped us make our place home. Hiring them was the best renovation decision we made. I'll definitely use them for any future job we have and would recommend them wholeheartedly.

SHL builders did an amazing job! They build up my juice bar and result was outstanding! Better that I could ever imagine! You could see it with your eyes if you stop by at 62 Madison Ave! I was really impressed with their work, it’s just very rare when somebody can create what you can only imagine in your head! They did it perfectly! They are very responsive and easy to work with! It’s very hard to find a great construction company, that is a fact which everybody knows. But I was lucky enough to find it. Highly recommend it for any comercial or residential project are you considering (they are doing it all!). The price was great comparing to other companies, the job was done on time and I appreciated so much the attention to small details! Super helpful, trying their best to deliver in time and also to make it not only look pretty but with the best quality! Hopefully to work with you again very soon for my next project!
