I am so pleased and honored to be a second generation customer of a reknown second generation cabinet company! In 1968, Watkins Cabinet Company built the kitchen in my parents’ custom Darnestown home. I won’t tell you how old I was, but I remember Rudy Day overseeing that build as clearly as I remember when he walked into my own kitchen in Germantown decades later to start my kitchen redesign. As is all the work Watkins does, the Germantown redesign was seamless. Frank kept the job right on schedule, choosing his own subcontractors, (electric, plumbing and flooring,) who were equally professional and proficient. Roy was just as genius. Those beautiful maple cabinets look like they were born in that space. Kathy was terrific at keeping my account straight when my checks came from sundry banks of different names! A special shout out has to go to Joan. She was amazing, picking up right after Rudy retired. When I wanted a specific item (like my ubatuba gold granite countertops,) she knew exactly where I could get it. When I got catatonic with decision making, Joan picked exactly the right drawer pulls to finish the look I wanted. How many people can say they were sad to write the last check to their kitchen contractor? That’s how seamless the Watkins process is. Update: Shortly after getting my dream kitchen, I had to sell the Germantown house. That house went under contract and sold in less than 10 days. I am convinced that the beautiful Watkins kitchen remodel was the key that sold that house so fast. I have recently moved to a new (old) house. And yes, this second generation customer is already taking measurements so that second generation Watkins can remodel my third kitchen (and a bathroom!) After 40 years, I can honestly say I would not have a kitchen built by anyone other than Watkins Cabinet.

Watkins Cabinet Company designed my new kitchen, built and installed the custom cabinets, and oversaw the entire project. Their design incorporated everything I asked for and their recommendations have proven to be insightful and practical. Their subcontractors all arrived when they were scheduled to be there and the entire remodel went like clockwork. The kitchen is absolutely gorgeous An example of above and beyond was at the very end of the job, after the tile floor was installed , it was discovered that one of my doors needed to be replaced and the replacement door needed to be custom-cut not only on the bottom but also along the side because the entryway from the original builder had not been done right. Watkins came out to my house, picked up the door, measured the entryway and took it back to their shop. Door was sized perfectly and then installed. They didn't charge me for this. They recommended hardware which I love. They accommodated my desire for a 'shelf-like' opening in the cabinetry for my microwave instead of a custom fit because I wanted the flexibility to replace a microwave at some point that might be of a different size. It blends perfectly with the drawers. The placement of the overhead lights are exactly right for how I use the kitchen and the electricians suggested a button on my counter to trigger the disposal to cut down on the # of switches on my backsplash. I love the room and it's transformed my house. They are consummate professionals and, at the same time, very approachable and considerate. I can't speak highly enough of the company.

Happy, happy, happy! We explored the spectrum of kitchen cabinet options from Ikea to boutique kitchen designers to big box stores. Let me tell you none of them would set foot in our kitchen to do an initial consultation and design for less than several hundred dollars. HOW ON EARTH CAN ANYONE EFFECTIVELY CONSULT AND DESIGN A SPACE WITHOUT SETTING FOOT IN THAT SPACE??? With Watkins Cabinet Co., the in-home consultation was free. From then on I was hooked. I decided I would find savings someplace else in our project just so I could get my custom cabinets from Watkins. For the consultation, Rudy, one of the owners, came to our home, looked at our kitchen, and took all measurements. We chatted about options and our ideas. The value added during this part of the process was his insight into what works and what doesn’t work, and I appreciated that he pointed out any flaws in our own design and offered options and alternatives. Within a couple of days of his visit, he mailed us a full drawing of the design along with the proposal. You have to understand, most places will never give you a scaled drawing without signing a contract!!! If you plan to compare Watkins prices to the brand name cabinet lines that kitchen boutiques and box stores sell, don’t. They are all junk compared to custom cabinets by Watkins. Another advantage of custom made is that they make use of every inch of our 121 sq ft space – there are no fillers in our kitchen. Our next step was a visit to their shop. It’s nice drive out to Barnesville. We picked out our cabinet style and other options and Rudy toured us around the shop. It is extremely satisfying to know that our cabinets were made locally, that we supported small business, and the local economy. Finally, our cabinets were delivered and installed on time by another one of the owners, Frank (I think). They are sturdy and beautiful and I can’t stop looking at them. From the initial consultation to the final installation, these guys were top notch professionals. I cannot speak highly enough of this place. If you are looking for top service and quality, get your custom cabinets from Watkins. True, old fashioned craftsmanship lives!!!

My wife and I spent more than 3 months collecting estimates from different contactors for the renovation of our kitchen. After reading several highly favorable reviews regarding custom cabinetry from Watkins Cabinet Company, we narrowed our search to three competitive bidders. Although we changed our kitchen design twice after the initial design from Watkins, the professional folk at Watkins continued to provide us new hard copy designs based on our changing requirements. Their only comment regarding our changes and initial hesitancy with moving forward with the project was "we needed to do what is best for us." Did I mentioned that Watkins did not charge us for these designs. They were a delight to work with before and after the execution of our contract. Once they were in our home, they had every phase of the project timed in such a way that they completed the project in two weeks. Other contractors promised to complete the project in four to six weeks. The end result of their work is a beautiful kitchen that we are more than pleased with. My wife and I truly believe that hiring Watskin was best decision for us. We recommend this company without hesitation.
