I'm a trained woodworker and furniture maker operating in the San Francisco Bay Area. I received my formal training at the world renowned College of the Redwoods Fine Woodworking program, right here in Northern California. I build custom pieces from commission and on spec. I also do custom home built-in's, restoration, and remodels. My furniture pays close attention to the details; the lines on a piece, the negative spaces, the details that your fingertips find first. I'm in love with the work I do, and it consumes me. When I work with a client, I first gain insight into their lives; their needs, their wants. Together we work toward finding that final product that makes them happy to come home. An object that you interact with everyday and that fits you like a tailored shirt. My clients understand and appreciate the value in owning fine furniture. In this time of throw away products, there are still some who would prefer to live with their furniture for life, something that will pass on for generations, heirloom quality. I am excited to work with you and get started on your custom piece. Adam built a wardrobe for my new studio. He was really easy to work with and immediately understood exactly what I was looking for. He had terrific suggestions regarding the type of wood to use and the design of the overall project, offering multiple versions for me to choose from. Everyone who has seen the finished project comments on the high quality of the work and how natural it looks in the space. I am really pleased with the entire experience. I'll definitely be contacting Adam for future projects and would happily recommend him to anyone looking for high quality work from a professional guy.

Apartment 46 for the Home

In looking for a quality woodworker for my client projects, I came across Vorrath Woodwork's portfolio. The photos convinced me that the attention to detail and finishing were above the norm. As I often suggest custom furnishings to fit my client's unique situations, it's important that I work with craftsmen that take pride in what they produce, are creative and collaborative. Adam is all of those things. He has built multiple large pieces for several of my projects and each one has seriously transformed the rooms. The clients are extremely happy with the work and the amazing commitment to turning out flawless furnishings. I'll definitely hire him again.

We hired Adam for a long awaited living room project. We've been wanting a new mantel and to have cabinets with open shelving above for a long time. We interviewed other companies before meeting Adam and couldn't find what we wanted but we got exactly what we wanted with him. From the start, we were on the same page with design and style. He was easy to communicate with, spot on with timeline, price and meticulous about measuring; he even went the extra mile when it came to installing. Our home is old and has settled quite a bit. Some areas are severely sloped but that didn't discourage Adam. He spent time strategizing and worked his magic making everything look perfectly straight in our completely slanted home. He shows pride in his workmanship and that is to be admired. We highly recommend working with Adam. I can't imagine him delivering anything less than the best.

Adam built a bench to surround a tree in front of my building on the sidewalk. Adam was timely and responsive with the estimates, up front about when the work would get done and the bench came out great. We definitely have the fanciest bench/planter on the block now!

Adam and his crew did a great job designing, building, painting and installing a very large built in dresser. Adam was easy to work with on the design and accommodated all my requests, answered all my questions and was very flexible in all cases. He addressed my concerns with thought and adapted the design accordingly. The finished product is amazing. The craftsmanship far exceeded my expectations. The paint finish is so smooth its unbelievable and the drawers and doors open and close perfectly. Vorrath Woodworks is a top of the line custom cabinet builder and furniture builder. I would recommend Adam for any custom woodworking project and know that he will do everything he can to exceed your expectations.

Adam did a spectacular job. He worked with us on the design, from sitting at table measuring books and art objects, to putting the plans on line so we could visualize and make changes. We visited his Oakland warehouse work space where he and carpentry partner Greg were building the large sections. A bonus was that the picture John had made to cover the wall bed bottom was beautifully complemented by the transformation of the rest of the room. Adam was patient, creative and helpful as the concept of this combined guest room and library took form, and the execution was stellar. Kudos!

Jake Karger

Adam is a very talented woodworker, artist and furniture maker. I searched for a dining room table for 10 months. He hit every deadline! He discussed cost up front and never deviated. In fact, he finished it prior to his own deadline. The table is gorgeous, exceeding my hopes! There were many details that were important to me and they mattered to Adam, as well. He allowed me to obsess over stain color, dimensions, the grain in the wood...everything. The table has a pedestal base and I was worried about wobbling. This table is solid as a rock. Finally, his design sense is wonderful. He added an edge detail that is very special. I loved working with Adam and his work is outstanding.

Jake, I was so happy to build this table for you and make it the perfect thing for your dining space. Its big but not imposing. You could have an 8 person dinner party around this table, or a nice foursome. I always love working with shop sawn veneer. It's the highest quality of work, and allows you the ability to get the most out of a design. I really can't say enough about how great working with Adam is! After spending a ton of money on designers for an office reconfiguration, my CEO decided to scrap the whole plan and left the redesign to me. Adam took my vision and created a beautiful custom workstation. After the initial project, we worked together on several other projects that made our use of space far more efficient. It was a great collaboration and we will be working together again. Again, he was great all the way through from communication to timing to the quality of work, Adam and his team can not be beat.
