Varian Designs

We have worked with Varian Designs on a number of projects for our interior design clients with great success! Forest and his team are fantastic to work with from start to finish. They recently installed a large custom armoire for a client's entryway -- it looks fantastic and provides all the function we were hoping for. I served in the military for many years. The most relevant implication of this statement is that I moved around a lot and relied on ready-to-assemble particle board furniture. This furniture never withstood the stress of time and transitions. Several hundred dollars and hundreds of pounds of solid waste later, I began to look around for a more meaningful alternative. I found Varian Designs. The desk I am now the caretaker of is filled with meaning down to the name of its design and of its design company. As a military man, an engineer, a lover of nature, and a burgeoning aficionado of of American wood craftsmanship, the custom-made Bartizan desk fills all of my ideals physically and philosophically. It is satisfying, too, after throwing out so many wood products to have a desk that includes reclaimed barn wood. Working with Forest to order the desk was, quite frankly, a delight. I found Forest to be a meticulous planner, a creative designer, and a true master of wood. His personability and professionalism as well as his fine craftsmanship have made me a fan for life. I have no doubt that his name will be included in the next generation of the American fine woodworkers canon that includes the likes of Nakashima, Maloof, and Krenov; I am proud to own a desk from Varian Designs. I will be prouder still to pass on this storied piece, so filled with character yet very functional, to generations to come.

We recently completed a significant remodel of our home, but needed some missing elements to be completed. We had seen some work by Varian Designs and thought that this was the group to furnish our remodel. Varian Designs reviewed our living space to understand how we use the space, and determine the type and style of existing furniture, from these features Varian Designs built a lovely refectory table and benches made of walnut. Then, Varian Designs designed aand built unique and stunning display cabinet with open shelves. Varian Designs work has integrated architecture, furniture and art display in our home. The jobs were completed on budget, and although pressed by many other commissions, the work was completed on the agreed timeline. Altogether, the work of Varian Designs has been stunning.

Our company hired Varian Designs to create custom display options for a new showroom location. Varian Designs took our designs and modified and improved to make them far more than we could have asked for. They went above and beyond to create the PERFECT displays, and when we had some minor corrections they were fast to resolve them. We will definitely use Varian Designs again!

Over the past three years, Varian Designs has completed several commissioned projects for us including king beds, night stands, bar stools, and most recently, a set of ten dining chairs. Forest Dickey, the owner, has been a pleasure to work with during the design phase and the finished product has in each case exceeded our expectations. Working collaboratively with us to develop an original concept, Forest has consistently delivered exceptional results on time and on budget. We can recommend them without hesitation.
