STUDIO The Architecture Studio of Val Glitsch, FAIA is dedicated to the practice of architecture as a creative endeavor, recognizing the power of good design to improve the quality of our lives and vibrancy of our experiences. The clarity of the spatial relationships in Val’s work has been broadly recognized by the professional community. Her materials are selected and artfully detailed with attention to beauty, longevity, and a conscious responsibility to the environment. Stylistically, the work is modern in character. Her work has focused primarily on residential projects, both custom and affordable housing, but her portfolio includes several commercial, religious and community projects. In 1995, in recognition of her contributions to the profession, she was elected to the American Institute of Architects (AIA) College of Fellows. As lead designer and project architect, Val is the client’s primary contact, staying with the project from beginning to the end. After a successful thirty-year career in her native Texas, Val relocated to Eugene, Oregon in 2015, where she now practices.

From beginning to end, Val went above and beyond her contractual duties to make sure my plans were the best they could be. From meeting me at a few different lots to discuss which fit my budget best, to walking us through home depot to look at materials, all the way to meeting with my builder and I on a regular basis, she has been the apex of professionalism and ability. My builder practically raves about how thorough and detailed her plans are. If I was going to start building another house tomorrow, Val would be the first person I called.

Val is a talented and meticulous architect. In 2004, she designed our home (ground-up new construction), and it has brought us great joy ever since. Val was wonderful to work with. In addition to completing the project on time and on budget, she incorporated all our needs and desires and elevated them with inspired design concepts. Our home’s overall layout is bold and elegant, and Val’s expertise and quality workmanship are visible in countless thoughtful touches and unique details. Val also brought great consultants (landscape and interior) to the project. The house has proved timeless and durable over the years - a constantly rewarding investment. We cannot recommend her highly enough.

Val Glitsch designed our home 25 years ago. She is a good listener, creative and gives special attention to details. It was such a pleasure to work with Val, she expanded our vision and she produced the house we love and live in to this day. I highly recommend this very talented architect.

Val Glitsch is a truly talented Architect. She designed my house for me that I love and others have admired. Val has attention to detail in every aspect of the design. I especially love the way she uses light. The way she designs the house for the lot and how the windows are placed to have the perfect daytime light and a moonlit light at night. I am still amazed how lovely the light is. Val also designed my house around four beautiful live oak trees. She didn't want to cut anything down. She wanted to design a house that fit inside the trees. The result is beautiful. The house is surrounded by trees making if feel as if the inside and outside are connected in a very natural and calming way. Her design is contemporary and yet warm at that same time. I am often reminded by visitors that Val's design is unique and beautiful. Thank you, Val.

Val has been the architect for the remodeling projects on three of my homes. She has remodeled existing space and also designed a new addition for one of our homes. From small to large remodels she has been great to work with. Though her personal style falls in the more contemporary range, she has been able to adapt to reflect and retain the original design integrity of our three traditional homes. She is great! (Note the project fee indicated includes construction costs. I don't recall her fee)
