Urban Grain

I've used Urban Grain twice now - once to create the most incredible scaffolding coat rack to run along a whole wall, and once to create a sideboard with hanging rail over the top (perfect for plates and pans, but also just right for shoes, boots and bags). They are lovely people, super professional, and the detail is brilliant. Everyone who comes to our house loves what they've made.

We contacted Carla at Urban Grain after we saw a set of custom shelves online that caught our eye. The shelves were prohibitively expensive and would need to be shipped across the Atlantic, so we decided to find someone UK-based who could design and build something similar for us. The team at Urban Grain were wonderful throughout the design process - very responsive, thorough and detailed in the approach. The design team were very patient with our constant requests for tweaks, and they kept working with us until we were completely happy with the design. The manufacture of the shelves was very quick once the design had been signed-off. Carla sent us updates throughout the process and we were able to request small modifications "on the fly". Delivery was managed easily and the unit was delivered into our home carefully and on time. We opted for "self installation" as the cost of installation was quite high - this was quite difficult as the measurements all needed to be spot on, so do bear this in mind if you're planning to install something like this yourself. Nothing too difficult for the average DIY'er. We were (and still are...!) absolutely thrilled with the look and quality of the shelves. Every visitor to our home comments on how great they look and how unique they are. I couldn't recommend Urban Grain highly enough, and Carla in particular was an absolute pleasure to work with. We'll definitely be back next time we decide to get a unique piece for our home. Thanks so much!

Beautiful furniture from reclaimed industrial products: i) 2 custom-made 1m tall candlesticks from galvanised steel pipework ii) An amazing reclaimed steel cabinet stripped back and burnished to look amazing and full of character. Flip up doors perfectly weighted to stay up on the precision engineered hinges. Carla brings out the soul in the materials!

Well, where do I start? Carla and her team provide a truly exceptional service from creating ideas to the final product. They have produced numerous one off pieces in my apartment including a walk in closet, bookcase/bar,hallway table and television cabinet that are beyond stunning, they can work within budgets, time scales and in limited amounts of space. They are also reliable, efficient and consistent. My only problem now-is that I have ran out of apartment space to allow Carla and her team to create more masterpieces!! A final personal touch is that each piece of furniture created for you by the InspiritDeco team is named after you! I love this….

We first began working with Carla via Etsy and we had a huge interest in her bookcases but very specific requirements. We exchanged emails, photos and after a call or two we nailed down the design. Swinging / sliding doors to hide the electrical outlet and wifi boxes provided easy access to the kit while the corner unit gave visibility to the TV without it being front and center and still managed to make it very view-able while not blocking the window view onto the mountains. We designed around the angled roof and large skylight. The height of the shelves was adjustable to make sure we could extend the arm of the sofa and use the shelf as a table. Perfection!

Carla and her team constructed made-to-measure Scaffold shelving for a wall of books which looks great. We then got them to make a planter for garden wall and a curtain pole too. Carla is lovely to do business with and I would highly recommend Inspiritdeco

Great service and beautiful product. I ordered a couple of shelving units and Carla and the team created the drawings from the spec provided. I picked the finishes based on the samples they sent through and everything arrived on time and perfectly to plan. I assembled the shelves myself which was very straight forward thanks to the simple instructions, clear labeling and thoughtful little additions like spacer guides they included with the delivery. I love the materials and the whole thing is finished beautifully.

Carla made me a set of shelves from glass and scaffolding poles with some classy finishing. It was based on my own imagination and inspired by her previous creations. They turned out beautiful and take pride of place in my new flat. Easy to work with and bundles of enthusiasm. Highly recommended.
